The original would have been a great horror film if they edited out every scene involving the cops.

Paul Harvey has passed away.

When I was in high school, his evening radio broadcasts along with those of Alex Dryer nourished my young mind with national and international news. God, he was good.

I agree. That comedy was just....in bad taste considering the rest of the movie.

Am i correct in thinking the original Last House On the Left was in the 70's????? I either saw it or a movie by a similar title. confused I remember seeing it at the drive-in and it was kind of sick creepy, yet I'll be darn if I remember the plot. I don't think I'd wanna see it again for some reason.

There wasn't a plot with LEFT, for it was a pure sex-ploitation thriller from Wes Craven and Sean Cunningham, both who later of course directed the slasher classics A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and the original FRIDAY THE 13TH.

An early example of pure hype and an excellent marketing campaign making a hit out of nothing.

You know, the BLAIR WITCH PROJECT of its time.

There was a Last House on the Left in the 70s? Above when I posted, I thought the current Last House might be a remake of Celebrity. The Last House trailers reminded me of Celebrity.

I was right. This is the one I'm thinking of from 1972. What a "dated" trailer. Just remember "it's only a movie." lol

I wouldn't say it was nothing. I wasn't alive in 1972, but I'm pretty sure it was one of the early films about ruthless killers that killed and raped for fun... and actually showed the brutal violence.

As you mentioned with The Blair With Project, it was a success due to the creative marketing campaign, but because of the creative marketing a new type of horror film was brought to the masses and inspired new ways of thinking in horror filmmaking for years to come.

While I have issues with the out-of-place comic relief, I think Last House on the Left deserves credit for influencing the genre.

Last House on the Left had a well defined plot IMO. It just goofed up the execution. It could have been among the best revenge movies, but...

One of you provided a link to a video of Adam Sandler impersonating Bruce Springsteen. Will you post the link again?

Has anyone ever watched the game show "Hole In The Wall"?? This is alternately the funniest and most incredibly stupid show I've ever seen.

Women stand on the edge of a pool while a wall with various shaped holes in it comes at them. They have to bend their bodies in the shape of the hole so that the moving wall doesn't knock them into the pool.

http://www.fox.com/holeinthewall/

Edit: Actually, I'm not sure if all the contestants are women. I've only seen the show once.

NEW YORK - Actor Ron Silver has died in New York City after a two-year battle with esophageal cancer.

The Creative Coalition Executive Director Robin Bronk says the 62-year-old, who co-founded the nonprofit, died peacefully in his sleep with his family around him early Sunday morning.

Silver won a Tony Award as a take-no-prisoners Hollywood producer in David Mamet's "Speed-the-Plow" and did a political about-face from loyal Democrat to Republican activist after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Oh, I loved him as Bruno Gianelli on "The West Wing". I didn't know that he had changed his political affiliation. On WW, he originally worked as a consultant for the Democratic incumbent, but then worked for the Republican candidate in the next election. Was that a reflection of his activism? If it was, I never caught that.

He was also in "Blue Steel" with Jamie Lee Curtis, a rather predictable police thriller, but his performance always stuck with me.

I've always enjoyed the acting of Ron Silver. Sad news.

He played a really good part in the movie Time Cop and he also did an outstanding job playing the character David Sternburg, the son of a jewish rag-trade mogul, (played by Jerry Louis) in the TV series Wiseguy.

An excellent character actor.

Don Cardi cool

Very sad.

He was great in "Wiseguy." I also loved him as a producer in "Mr. Saturday Night."

He was very pro-union. I remember when the foodservice workers were on strike a few years ago, he wouldn't cross the picket line to eat at Cipriani in Manhattan. It's famous for being one of those beautiful people/celebrity/society joints. So it was apparently more important to him to be true to himself than be swayed by a bunch of phonies. That's true character.

Obviously a good man. Sad news.

Actress Natasha Richardson is brain dead - after falling in a ski accident in Canada - and is now on sad journey home to New York, friends told The Post today.

She's married to Liam Neeson I believe, but I never heard of her.

Didn't you guys ever watch the remake of The Parent Trap?? My daughter loved that movie when it came out. Anyway, she was the mother in that movie. And, yes, she's married to Liam Neeson.

Other reports say she's dead, brain dead, or suffering from a head injury after a fall during a skiing lesson. Who knows??

I have been hearing this story all day. I think it's "unconfirmed" however just now on my local news in one of there brief newsflashes, they indicated it might be true. frown

I too only have heard of her, but don't know her. I didn't know she was married to Liam Neeson AND Vanessa Redgrave's daughter.

Anyway, my great Aunt ( who was much older and fell under different circumstances) last year, slipped, fell and hit her head, walked away and felt fine with no obivious bump/bruise. Later that evening she had horrible pain and ended up on life support and brain dead within 24 hours. She passed away a day or so after (Well, they took her off life support). frown This sounds like the same kind of thing. Always, always check out any head injuries. You never know.

She's Vanessa Redgrave's daughter? I had no idea. Terrible if the rumors are true.

TIS, Have you ever seen Maid In Manhattan with Jennifer Lopez? She was also in that.

SB, I just read that she was Redgrave's daughter.

Yes, I loved Maid in Manhatten, but it's been a while. I can't place who she was.

If you remember the movie, Jennifer Lopez was pretending to be a guest of the hotel when she was actually a maid. Natasha Richardson played the guest whose room she was pretending to stay in.

UPDATE 2:00 PM ET -- The hospital tells TMZ Richardson is sedated and suffering from brain swelling -- but, contrary to some reports, is not brain dead. We can't confirm the accuracy of the hospital's statements, or the other reports circulating the web -- fact is, right now we just don't know.

Does John Leguizamo still appear in movies? I have seen him in Summer of Sam, The Fan, and a couple other movies and always thought he was a very good actor.

Also, am I mistaken or confusing him with someone else, but didn't he have a short-lived comedic sketch show named after himself in the early 90s?

He was in The Happening, but it was a pretty bad movie. All the characters, including his, were very bland.

I just saw a 1961 episode of The Andy Griffith Show and in one crowd scene there was a black women.

What is the earliest TV show in which you remember a black person in the cast?
