It was awesome! It was more special being there with my Dad more than anything though, especially because he is a Niners fan. It was a meaningless game as far as the season goes, but it was an exciting come from behind victory over Washington and turned out to be more important for three different reasons. 1. Frank Gore ran for over 1,000 yards for the third season in a row which is the first time a 49ers running back has ever done that, which is hard to believe with all of those great teams in the '80s and '90's. 2. Right after the game they gave Mike Singletary the coaching job for the next four years, and that's huge news around here because he is already loved by the fans. 3. It was Joe Starkey's final game as the 49ers play-by-play announcer after 20 years. They gave him a very nice tribute during the game and the crowd cheered as loud for him as anything that happened during the game. On the radio post game show we listened to him give a tear jerking farewell to everybody. In the end, it was just special to be there with my Dad for our first pro game together, and his excitement over that plus those three things made it more special. One thing I noticed is that the game seemed slower in real life. The quarterback seemed to have more time to throw the ball, the ball seemed to fly through the air slower and the receivers/running backs seemed to run slower. I guess the cameramen really know how to capture those moments to make it more exciting for television. That's not a knock on the sport though. It was exciting to see it all live!

You don't have to pay for it like the NBA League Pass? I assumed you would so I haven't even looked for it. I'm not sure. What channel is it for you there in Pennsylvania?
I get it on Channel 280 as part of my basic Comcast digital. They will air only a few dozen live games over the season, co I'll have to order the MLB Extra Innings, which gives me all of the MLB games, except Phillies, Pirates, Orioles and Nationals because of local market rules. But I get all the Phillie games on Comcast Sport anyway. The MLB Network with Harold Reynolds and Dan Plesac is like the baseball version of the NFL Network, which I like. Tonight, the NFL Network, by the way, starts a marathon of all the Super Bowl highlight shows.

Sweet! I'm not that into car racing myself, but it should be a fun experience. And February is a good time to get the hell outta Dodge (eww, no pun intended lol). Speaking of Florida, I'm hoping to go down to visit my folks in March or April (Flying in March is a lot cheaper than Easter time, but we'll see). Have fun!

We're going to the Daytona 500!! My husband has always wanted to go, but the tickets were always too expensive and too difficult to get. Well, the poor economy left so many tickets available that we were able to score some for half price! We were planning on being in Florida that weekend anyway (albeit about 3 1/2 hours from Daytona), so it was too good an opportunity to pass up.
Anyone have earplugs I can borrow??? I'm not a fan either, but I wouldn't pass on an opportunity to go to a race like that! Be sure to let us know how it was.

Went to the OTB bar for a bit tonight... let's see how I did together, shall we? Delta Downs Race 5 - Lost $6 Race 6 - Lost $6 Race 7 - Won $10 ($4 after $6 bet) Race 8 - Won $22 ($4 after $18 bet) Race 9 - Won $34 ($16 after $18 bet) Race 10 - Lost $2 Race 11 - Lost $2 +$8! Minus drinks Guess you gotta be pretty damn lucky to win big on the horses! I kept yelling "c'mon, Kryptonite!"

"OTB"? I thought that was a place where only people with a bad gambling problem hung out. LOL This place isn't quite like the scary OTBs you find on the streets of Manhattan!

what about Michael Phelps' pot pic? "He was out of control from the moment he got there." says one of his fellow party-goers. Phelps was visiting Jordan Matthews, a girl he was secretly seeing who was a student at the University of South Carolina and apparently forgot he's the Olympic record gold medal winner. I wonder when celebrities will learn?

Personally, I don't think taking a few bong hits should be a big deal, but as a role model for kids, he should've been more careful.

Last night made me proud to be a New Yorker and Knicks fan with the ovation given to Kobe Bryant for dropping 61 points on the hometown crowd. You're being sarcastic right?
