On Ziegler: A closer that can't strike anyone out scares me. But, so far he doesn't give up any runs.

Ha, I just realized I have every closer in the NL West except Arizona. But I made up for it by taking an AL West closer. That was all pure chance.

I'm stumped in regard to my RP positions. Thigns got so bad last year in terms of BS/Loss that I considered keeping my RP spots open. lol

I strongly believe that the keys to this game, as evidenced by BL's and JL's recent wins, are timely pick-ups and strong starting pitching.

Agreed, along with a strong bullpen. A good bullpen will get you double digit points every day.

You're right. Not only can they earn points, but if you manage to avoid blown save/losses, that's huge.

I'm not as happy with my pen as DB seemed to be during his analysis... but we'll see!

Interesting, I'm not as happy with my starting pitching as DB seemed during his analysis. Is he trying to build us up mentally so he can swoop in and trade when things go bad?

Psychological warfare already? The season hasn't even started! tongue

I'm still trying to figure out the usefulness of RP's. I believe they are key to winning but not necessarily in the closer role. I think being on top of the game and riding setup pitchers (holds) while they are on a hot streak can help, just as long as you dump them before they slump. It's tricky.

While the top closers are extremely valuable, what are you giving up to draft them? That's the hard part. I'm not sure it's worth it. I have a feeling I will be analyzing that position forever.

Great setup men are about equal to mediocre closers. The setup men will give you a steady 3-5 points per appearance. Mediocre closers will give 10 points one day, and -7 the next.

Why am I not surprised to see Randy Winn on JG's team again?

How many players have you guys had from year to year? From either draft or trade? I now have Brian Roberts for the third year in a row, and Lincecum and Haren for the second year in a row.

It was funny the other day when I was checking the SP free agents... I think my entire staff from last year was there! lol

Even with all the roster moves I made last season, I don't have too many returnees.

3B Alex Rodriguez was officially put on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday, retroactive to March 27, but could be back earlier than initially expected. A report in the New York Post said Rodriguez was progressing so well in his rehab from hip surgery that he could return at the end of April instead of mid-May as had originally been projected. Hitting coach Kevin Long also told the paper Rodriguez was already at "70 percent."

SP Baker has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder stiffness....

RHP John Lackey had his strained forearm evaluated...

Don't bother looking for speedy Emilio Bonifacio. He's taken. (4-4 so far today, 3 SB, and a HR) Let's see how long it lasts. lol

That's what I'm going to be doing all day tomorrow. I picked a perfect day to get a one day suspension from my job. Now I get to watch the Giants opener grin My job is trying to punish me but they did me a favor.
