Did any of you guys ever play your baseball cards against someone else's? I remember my brothers playing some kind of game with their friends that involved flipping their cards onto the ground, and one of the players would get to keep both cards. Was it the one that landed face up?? My brother and I played that. If both cards landed the same (either both heads or tails),he would win. If one was heads and the other tails, I'd win. The winner was the one with all the cards although we'dreturn them to each other afterwards. I still have a lot of cards from the 70s, Schmidt, Rose, Aaron, Gibson, Carlton, Seaver, Jackson, Carew, Brett, Yaz, etc.

I just finished watching the memorial tribute to Harry Kalas, which took place Saturday afternoon at Citizen's Bank Park. This was only the second time that a memorial service with the deceased's casket for viewing took place on a major league ball field. The other time was for Babe Ruth.
There were moving tributes from Mike Schmidt, Jamie Moyer, Kalas' son, Kane, Gov. Rendell and Mayor Nutter among others. Near ther end of the memorial, past and present Phillies formed two lines along the firstbase and rightfield lines and passed his casket down to the line to the playing of Kalas' favorite song, "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
Having heard thousands of his broadcasts, I'm going to miss him.
