When you crack your knuckles it releases a gas which in turn makes that popping sound. It does involve articulation of the joints to some extent, so that causes wear and tear of the knuckle joints. But that wear and tear is so tiny that it probably won't affect your chances of getting arthritis. Anyway, arthritis predisposition appears to be inherited to some degree.

I have been giving blood for years and that is the first time i have seen anyone pass out afterwards. He was ok of course,just a tad embarrassed!!
Years ago, you had to have a blood test to get married in New York State. So when my ex and I went to a doctor for the test I had blood drawn from me for the first time in my life (I was 22 then). It was a tiny little test tube's worth and I ALMOST fainted from it.
Nowadays, I have blood drawn so often that you'd swear I am junkie because of the needle marks.
