I finally got to watch the final two episodes on Friday night. I thought it was a good wrap up to the series. I purposely avoided reading about the ending. So I guessed that Phil was going to whack Tony at the end when the Soprano family was having dinner. I was surpised that Phil's guys bailed and he was killed instead. And he could not have been killed in a better way, particuarly when the car ran him over.
So what is the general consensus of what happened that the viewer did not see? With Meadow walking in to the restaurant and that look on her face, my guess is that the FBI was ahead of her coming in to arrest Tony.
I don't know if it constitutes a consensus, but many Board members apparently believe that Tony was sunsequently murdered. I don't. I believe that Tony lives, continues to run the family, and either dies peacefully in his bed or gets murdered, but not for years. However, it's kind of silly to guess since the whole series is fiction, it can go either way, but there is nothing on which to base a conslusion.

So what is the general consensus of what happened that the viewer did not see? It's split down the middle whether or not Tony lives. Clues are peppered throughout the final season that lead us to think he dies, but I disagree. (Though, in disagreeing, I don't even think he lives, either.) My views at the time can be read here. I think I'd be able to articulate them much better now, but I haven't tried.

We went to Wendy's yesterday for lunch and I couldn't believe that one of the songs that was playing was the Soprano's Theme. LOL. Love that song!

Holy Cannoli! That's an amazing drawing. So detailed on every part of it. That's one of my favorite Tony Soprano pictures too. Probably the best one I've seen of him. And there would be the "Made in America" title on the bottom of it. Made in America was a good title for the last episode because for 1, that was the original name of the show before they decided to call it "The Sopranos", and 2, He's Made...in America, and the Statue of Liberty is behind him..Something about that picture is really interesting to me. But anyways, that's a great picture!

In terms of writing and acting, " The Sopranos" is obviously one of the best shows ever to air. It's largely responsible for establishing a norm on premium cable in which writers are really allowed to do their thing. We see the effect in shows like " Dexter" and " Deadwood." Although these shows might have serious flaws, they frequently exhibit writing of a craft and subtlety usually reserved for low-grossing films. But everyone pretty much agrees on all of that. The point of this piece is to highlight some serious problems with " The Sopranos" that are ignored by most critics like Karl Rove at his senior prom.

Chris was just a button man at that point. Didn't surprise me as you remember he robbed a game with an associate while Jackie Jr was touching himself in the getaway car. That was right after he got made.

Max Koch is my favorite by far with the Tony Soprano videos. I have a couple of his videos as favorites on my YouTube account. He's great. I think everyone should check out his account. His account name is BowlerHat http://www.youtube.com/user/BowlerHat

I just watched "The Legend of Tennessee Moltisanti," or Season One: Epsiode Eight of "The Sopranos."
It's funny now seeing Joe Gannascoli play a different part, because his Vito Spatafore became a pretty big part of some of the later plots.
If you've never seen it before, Gannascoli plays a customer in a bakery, who has a run in with Christopher. The Gannascoli character is a regular guy; he's not a part of Christopher's world. Anyway, the counter man pisses Chris off, and Chris shoots him in the foot.
I think it was almost tongue in cheek, because it's such an obvious homage to Spider getting shot in the foot in "Goodfellas." The irony, of course, is that Michael Imperioli played Spider.
Good episode.

PB, wasn't that the kid behind the counter that got shot? Yes. I just watched it, too. I must really be cracking up . Gannascoli was in the episode, though.
