I thought it'd be fun to post some of our favorite movie's quotes or scenes that stay in our minds. Include blockbusters and classics like "Frankly My Dear I Don't Give A Damn" or just a favorite/least favorite scene in general from a movie. A couple: "E.T. Phone Home". Remember how different ET was? My daughter cried at the end when he had to leave. (Is that a spoiler? Surely you've all seen it?) "Yo Adrian" That scene with the Rocky theme playing in the background was so neat. ![smile smile](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/smile.gif) Include less or no blockbuster movies too. Those two came to mind right away to me. TIS

Great idea TIS.

From "To Kill a Mockingbird" - when the old pastor tells Scout (at the end of the trial), "Stand up, your father is passing". It's a line meant to show great respect and it always gives me goosebumps to see/hear that scene. The one line that is always guaranteed to choke me up, "Hey, Dad, wanna have a catch?" (from "Field of Dreams"). "Klatuu barada nikto". The three words that can save the planet (from "The Day the Earth Stood Still" - the original). I'll remember those words just in case..... From Strother Martin in "Cool Hand Luke", the unforgettable, "What we have here is failure to communicate". Duhhhhh. "Here's looking at you, kid", from "Casablanca". I forget the guy's name who says it, but it's pure class.

Now you have me wanting to watch "To Kill a Mockingbird" this weekend. I for the life of me still can't figure out the meaning of the title. Watch it... the title is quoted and is "explained".

"Yeah, blondes are pretty scarce on this island"--original King Kong. I've always thought Robert Armstrong's, "It was beauty killed the beast", was one of the most profound and sad ending lines in any movie.

"Now youse can't leave." ---- A BRONX TALE That definitely is one of the best one's ever. A great one, Olivant. The real Gino's cafe was on Allerton Avenue and Boston Road, adjacent to White Castle. Me, my brother, my Dad, my uncles . . . we ate and drank there all our lives. But they finally closed down about 5 years ago. It's an office building now. Oh well.

On the flip side of the coin... Maybe it wasn't so much at the time, but isn't this one of the lamest quotes ever..." Love means never having to say you're sorry." ![rolleyes rolleyes](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/rolleyes.gif) I mean I'm as romantic as the next gal, but what the hell does that even mean? I admit, at the time it seemed ok, but doesn't hold up as a "great" movie quote to me. TIS

Good memory PB. I haven't seen that movie in years and would not have remembered that line. ![ohwell ohwell](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/smirk.gif) Oh, let's not forget..."you talkin' to me" ![lol lol](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/lol.gif) Love it! TIS

Browsing around, after posting the Love Story tagline, I found this site with old movie taglines(30's 40's). However I see one is from 1915. ![eek eek](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/shocked.gif) SC and others might get a kick out of it. Before you click, what movie do you think this tagline might be from? "Don't miss the funniest picture ever made." Hint: 1935 Taglines TIS
