3 celebrities in a week (2 in a day).

Yea, poor Farrah seems to be getting tossed to the side. frown Of course, her family probably appreciates more privacy. MJ story is all that's on now.

It has been a slow year for celebrity deaths (despite BAM's rantings to the opposite). This week kind of brings that rate up to a more normal (expected) number.

I think NBC News stated that Farrah Fawcett was to be their lead in story, but Michael Jackson obviously took the lead.

I'm not sure, but I think last year on my list I had Michael Jackson.

DT & Whisper,
why did you pick Michael? I mean, I wasn't really surprised to hear the news. But what made you think he'd die this year?

It's no coincidence that Farah Fawcett and Michael Jackson died on the same day. One played with Majors, the other with minors.

If anyone has this name on their list, I'll eat my hat!! tongue I just heard that Billy Mays died. Who is that you ask? He does many of those infomericals, like (I think) oxy-clean and such. You know the loud talker. He was only 50 and I don't know how he died.

Wow... must be something with "barkers". Last year the guy who did the voiceovers (and some said he looked like me); last week was Ed McMahon; now this guy Mays (and, yes, I do know who he was).

BTW - We in New York have a guy who announces big lottery paydays and he's in a commercial along with Ed McMahon, the guy who did the voiceovers and the guy who announces for "Jeopardy" (I think). If that "Jeopardy" announcer (I THINK his name is Johnny Gilbert) drops dead I'm gonna freak out.

HOLY SHIT!!!!

TAMPA, Fla. - Tampa police say Billy Mays, the television pitchman known for his boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean, has died. He was 50.

Authorities say Mays was pronounced dead Sunday morning after being found by his wife at home. There were no signs of a break-in, and investigators do not suspect foul play. The coroner’s office expects to have an autopsy done by Monday afternoon.

Mays’ wife, Deborah Mays, says the family doesn’t expect to make any public statements and asked for privacy.

Mays was also featured on the reality TV show "Pitchmen" on the Discovery Channel, which followed Mays and Anthony Sullivan in their marketing jobs.

The Oxy Clean guy? Holy Crap! He's one of those people I don't know his name, but you know of him. I think I just saw that commercial the other day.

Here's the latest on him.

AA -- Billy Wasn't Wearing a Seat Belt on Plane

Posted Jun 28th 2009 12:58PM by TMZ Staff

The FAA is already deflecting blame for the death of Billy Mays -- claiming the legendary TV pitchman wasn't wearing a seat belt when he took a shot to the head during a rough landing on a flight he was on yesterday.

Here's what we know -- Billy Mays was aboard US Airways Flight 1241 flying from Philadelphia, which landed roughly when the front tire blew out as it touched down. After the flight, Billy told FOX 13 in Tampa that something struck him in the head -- here's Billy's actual quote:

"All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

We called the FAA for comment, and a spokesperson told us, "The passenger needs to wear a seat belt during landing and he didn't."

A spokesperson for US Airways did not want to comment until more information comes to light.

Billy posted about it last on his Twitter last night, saying, "Just had a close call landing in Tampa. The tires blew out upon landing. Stuck in the plane on the runway. You can always count on US Air."

a question here since i never been on a commercial plane before or what ever, but how can a seatbelt save you from getting hit on your head from the ceiling?
