Is there any particular advantage to 'friend-count boosting'???

Or is it just something people do to try & show off and add superficial meaning to their otherwise empty lives?

(Sort of like when people would post endless, one-line nonsense all over the Gangster BB just to get their 'post-count' up...???) grin
