Glad to see Yogi didn't make the same mistake with Roy Williams or the other Adrian Peterson! Goombah, I have to admit - when I read "Adrian Peterson" in your post, I was worried enough that I had to go check my team. Why, you don't trust the AP playing for Da Bears? That would have been something if the Minnesota AP made it without being drafted! In 2007, when AP broke into the league in Minnesota, I participated in a live fantasy draft. I decided to take a chance on the rookie phenom as my 3rd RB. When I gave my selection, the commish asked "which one?" I replied "The good one!"

YO - Disaster 2nd pick when he mixed up Steve Smith (WR - CAR) with Steve Smith (WR - NYG). Poor Yogi! I was wondering how I ended up with the "real" Steve Smith

Commissioner's Note Although I'm loathe to change league settings after the season has started, I've gone ahead and a made a change that will not affect how anyone drafted, but will, I think, improve game play and competitiveness.
This change has to do with the free agent pool. In past seasons, only players recently released have been on waivers and the vast majority of other players were immediately available as free agents. Two issues because of this: (i) "waiver priority" is rendered meaningless and (ii) those immediately in front of their computers on a Sunday afternoon have a distinct advantage because they can react in real time to injuries (e.g. when Brady got hurt in Week 1 last season, someone watching that Sunday could have immediately snatched up Cassel and owned him that same day). I want to make this situation less likely and make waiver placement more important.
I think this is the first time that this option has been made available, but I've selected the option so that immediately after the first Sunday game starts (10:00am PT), all players in the free agent pool will be placed on waivers and will remain there until 11:59pm PT the following Tuesday. This will give everyone a chance to react to injuries and add unowned playres on hot streaks.

I like the new rule. I used to play in a league that had a similar rule, but the weekly waiver priority was set each week in order of first to last. So whoever was in last place at the end of each weekend had the number one pick.
I think it's a fair rule like DB said, because those who are able to sit around all day on Sunday waiting for injuries and then quickly swiping the backups off of waivers now have to wait for two days giving everyone a fair chance. That way the rich don't always get richer unless they saved their waiver priority wisely.
Also, it changes the strategy a little. If you think there is a good backup out there with a chance the starter might get injured, you can pick him up ahead of time in anticipation of an injury. If you take a chance and wait then there might be a chance that half the league can pick him up once the injury becomes reality. So trying to predict what might happen becomes more of a strategy.

With 10 fantasy games going until baseball is finished, I wouldn't have noticed any changes.
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

Part of the fun of the game (for me) was sitting around watching football on Sundays early in the season, and finding diamonds in the rough on the waiver wire. Now that is gone. I don't think that's necessarily gone. It'll just come down to the waiver priority IF someone else discovers the same person(s)...

But it's not gone it's just delayed. You have to agree things are more fair this way right? I'm saying this as I'm second to last in waiver priority. So I have nothing to gain. I'm all for giving people who don't have time to watch every game on Sunday a chance the next day to compete.

I don't understand I guess. Why wouldn't you draft the best you could at the moment and then try to upgrade from there, gambling to get the next hotshit before someone else? You can still "dump" them on Sunday, just gotta wait it out I guess. Commish could explain more...

I see what you're saying. I'm much lazier than that.

It usually works for me, especially in baseball. By the end of the year, 1/2 my team are free agent pickups. Mine, too, if my draft sucks.
