I'm not going to pretend that I know all of the prospects coming out for the 2010 draft. However, I do not think I would go with Tebow. Not all the scouts are convinced his game translates to an NFL QB. The Browns have so many holes. If (when) they draft in the Top 5 next year, I would seriously look at an elite RB, if available, or a game-changing defensive player (whether it is a LB, S, or DL).

Ahhh, the pitchforks and torches, you have to love them. ohwell lol

Unless anybody else has retorts beyond the new waiver system is "horrible" or "sucks", I'm not going to address it anymore. My reasons for the change and my apologies for having the change post-draft are above.

Not discussed.

Post draft.

If you are interested in multiple people but only want to drop one person, you have to decide between your first choice and who you will likely end up with.

Anyone who is late to change kickers or defense during a bye week gets screwed.

Anyone looking to add the backup to their player after they go from questionable to out pre-game, is screwed.

It slows everything down. Trades have to wait for waivers to clear in some cases. (For instance, I had to wait to see if I got Sanchez before going after another QB too hard)

....

...

..

....I could probably come up with more if you'd like.

LN, I could respond to each and everyone of your points (except the post-draft one, which I apologized for. I am already on the record that I didn't like having to do it post-draft). Bottom-line, as the commissioner, I am the only one that has to look out beyond my own self-interest. I think my record in looking out for the leagues speaks for itself. I overturned my own trade this year in baseball because for whatever reason, players in the league decided they wanted to negotiate for another player. wink

No offense to anybody, but I view running these leagues more as a benevolent dictatorship rather than a democracy. If I feel a change will better the league, I'll make it. You all just have to trust that I'm a fair person, which I hope I've proven.

Furthermore, if you are late in changing because of a bye week or if you fail to add a back-up because of a questionable designation (which happens at the end of the week when ALL the available players are FREE AGENTS), what the heck does that have to do with the new waiver system?

With that said, I do appreciate that you feel strongly about the change one way or another. I like that you guys are engaged. wink

I imagine that the decision went down something like this:

Longneck: "Who ordered the change in the waiver rules after the draft?

J Geoff: "It was the moderator."

Just Lou: "Yeah, I know. But who gave the order? I know I didn't."

J Geoff: "There was this kid I grew up with - he was younger than me. We played in our first fantasy leagues together. This was a man of vision and guts. Later, he had an idea to manage an online fantasy sports website as a stopover from the daily grind. That kid's name was Don Sicilia and the game he invented was Gangster BB Fantasy Football. Sometimes he has to make tough choices that not everyone agrees with...so when he made an adjustment to the waiver rules, I let it go. I knew Don Sicilia was busy and headstrong, always rooting for his Chicago teams. And I said to myself 'This is the fantasy football league we have chosen.' I didn't ask why the change was made because it had nothing to do with business!"

Fantastic! lol

There are some Questionables that play like nothing happened and there are some Questionables that don't play at all. Hence the whole Questionable thing. Say McNabb, we won't know if he will play or not until minutes before the game.

After Tuesday you can pick up people instantly like normal again. So if you find out Saturday that your QB is out, then you can pick someone up right away. You don't have to wait two days. The only time you have to wait is from Sunday to Tuesday to give everyone a chance to pick up players that might have had breakout weeks or backups for injured players, etc...

What about when you find out your player is out on Sunday? Wes Welker was listed as "Questionable" and "Probable", but "expected to play" all week. Now right before game time, he's not playing.

Fri, Sep 18

WR Wes Welker (knee) was listed as limited in Friday's practice and is probable.

Right now it's about 20 minutes before the first games, can't you still pick up a player to replace him? I just tested it and it said the transaction would be reflected on my week 2 lineup.

Yeah, I just dropped a player and picked up a free agent and he's available for my games today, on Sunday. So this new waiver rule must go into effect once a game starts.

I imagine the players in the later games are still available until their games start as well.

Not sure about early games but everyone is on waivers now so late games you're just screwed.

Yes, you're screwed if you didn't do anything to prepare for any roster contingencies in the 7 days before the week's slate of games started.

Really? Say there was a Monday Night Football game with say the Colts. Say you had Austin Collie but then read Polian interview saying Garcon would be the #2 receiver. OH CRAP you're stuck with Collie. There goes your league championship as you lose by 1 point and miss the playoffs by 1 game.

The biggest problem comes from Monday night games. All your options other than your guy's backup have already played and with the way teams dick around with the injury report....

In my non-BB league, we have a different scoring system, which awards bonus points for yardage and also PPR. With Joseph Addai still playing for me tonight, I have a current score of 295 points from my team. I would like to top 300 points for the week.

QB Drew Brees - 83

WR DeSean Jackson - 31

WR Marques Colston - 29

RB Marion Barber - 33

RB Joseph Addai - MNF

TE Owen Daniels - 19

W/R/T (flex) Frank Gore - 75

Ryan Longwell (Min - K) 13

Defense/Special Teams Green Bay - 12
