Godfather, Scarface and donnie brasco all have elements of the American dream but does each era represent it as a good or bad thing?

I wud say the godfather is the only one which shows the american dream as a good thing maybe because of the change in representing gangsters as "good" guys at the time inwhich the godfather was made.

I agree with kyle.... scarface was the pseudo-american dream.... donnie brasco followed some elements of the fake american dream... but godfather was probably the most legit since drugs werent involved which was a major hindrance in the definition of the american dream

i always found scarface the most attractive depiction of the american dream. all three of these movies you posted show depictions of different types of gangsters at different levels. BUt everyone wants fast money sexy women and fast cars which all 3(not to sure about donnie brasco) had to offer.
