Are there a lot more people (than normal) in the hospital because of it?

Not really SC. What they are doing over here is that if/when you get the flu you have to stay at home and then get someone to get the tamiflu antidrug collected. I think they want to try and quarantine it,which isn't really going to work i don't think!

Of course the worry is that every child who wakes up with a sniffle or a sore throat is being diagnosed as having flu and kept off school. Apparently the attendance at schools is down. Some of the classes my kids are in are down to about half but i would bet good money not all the absentees have swine flu!

Sometimes I worry about zombies.

So Matthew last night decided he is scared of the dark
He has never had a problem going to bed but this has developed and i know why. All the kids are talking about is Halloween and all the shops are full of scary stuff. We think it may have gotten into his little mind.

No more Scooby-Doo for him

Yogi, I went through a phase like that. There was a vampire show on TV in the 1960s/70s called "Dark Shadows". I was NOT allowed to watch it because my mother knew what I was like. Sure enough, I would sneak to a friend's house to watch it. Then I wouldn't sleep without lights, a cross around my neck and the covers pulled up to my chin (to protect my neck from the vampire's bite!). It used to drive my mother crazy!!

When I saw the footage on the news this morning, my heart almost stopped.

You know, thinking about it....that's two news stories on the same day (or within a day apart) of a child escaping injury/death). Don't know what that means, but in both cases a happy ending.

Word is that if the swine flu were actually more unpleasant, it would have been called "Attorney's Disease."

TEHRAN, Iran – A suicide bomber killed five senior commanders of the elite Revolutionary Guard and at least 26 others in an area of southeastern Iran that has been at the center of a simmering Sunni insurgency, state media reported.

The official IRNA news agency said the dead included the deputy commander of the Guard's ground force, Gen. Noor Ali Shooshtari, as well as a chief provincial Guard commander for the area, Rajab Ali Mohammadzadeh. The other dead were Guard members or local tribal leaders. More than two dozen others were wounded, state radio reported.

We had our annual Festa Italiana this past weekend, and it was located in the downtown area for the first time in awhile - what a great decision!! I volunteered with my cousin as we've done in the past - we served artichoke hearts/faccia de vecchia/Italian green beans on Friday, and wine/beer on Saturday. Saturday was absolutely insane. I don't remember stopping for a single moment during the entire work shift, and I had to get a crash course in wine serving by jumping right into it.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Federal drug agents won't pursue pot-smoking patients or their sanctioned suppliers in states that allow medical marijuana, under new legal guidelines to be issued Monday by the Obama administration.

Two Justice Department officials described the new policy to The Associated Press, saying prosecutors will be told it is not a good use of their time to arrest people who use or provide medical marijuana in strict compliance with state law.

The guidelines to be issued by the department do, however, make it clear that agents will go after people whose marijuana distribution goes beyond what is permitted under state law or use medical marijuana as a cover for other crimes, the officials said.
