I've been to Cali once and I would love to go back one day. It is beautiful there. I loved seeing those huge trees. Where were you when yougot that pic with Don Vito?

Madame Tussauds. It was quite small... I would guess that the one in NY will be much bigger.

It's been about 10 years since I've been to Universal Studios, but my kids and I would go every now and then and end up on Hollywood Blvd, check out Rodeo Drive and have lunch at the Hard Rock in Hollywood.

Back in the late 80's we went to Universal and they had a demonstration (of sorts) of the ET scene with the kids riding the bikes in the sky fleeing the authorities. They asked for a volunteer from the audience and chose my daughter who then about 10/12. She got on the bike and the audience looked at the screen and sure enough she was riding thru the sky and not going anywhere.

Jaws was a big attraction (I was amazed at how tiny the little pond was). We saw many famous family houses like Ozzie & Harriet, Leave It To Beaver and numerous others.


I imagine there is so much new since I've been there last. What's the admission these days SVSG? An arm and a leg???

TIS, it is $69 per head. You can visit for a second time free with that. When I was drinking from a coke can the next day I realized that there was some discount coupon printed on that can. So I guess if you plan in advance you should find cheaper deals with coupons. I would say that the "Studio Tour" is the only thing not to be missed. The other stuff is all about roller coasters and stuff, which might be of interest to kids more than adults. No doubt, dinosaurs spitting water on you is fun , but the studio tour is truly magnificent.

And this is a picture of the Bay Bridge looking at it from Alcatraz.



I have some pictures of Alcatraz but none of them came out as good as I had hoped. Alcatraz is definitely something to experience in person instead of pictures.

I tried to post those pictures in svsg's "gallery" thread but it wouldn't let me use image links. It would just show up as a text link. So if I wanted to post my pictures in the photo gallery I would have to start my own thread and then we would have multiple threads for the same conversation. I don't like the photo gallery.

That makes two of us. It isn't user friendly; it makes it harder to follow the flow of conversation (having to go back to the top of the page to see what photo is being commented on); and it's all but impossible to tag the photo properly.

I agree about the photo gallery. I don't always think of going there unless the latest post indicates it's from that thread.

Having a senior moment here... this just "sunk in" and I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that you tried to reply as normal in that thread, and used the "File Manager" feature?

Granted, the photo gallery forum isn't perfect, but the idea is there - you can upload multiple pics to the same thread without bothering with 3rd party sites. No, you can't upload to someone else's thread, that sucks, but maybe a future update will allow that. Hey, no big deal. But certainly better than uploading to a Random Post thread, no? Two years from now how's anyone to find the posts here?? Nothing wrong with separate "My trip to Cally meeting SVSG" and "My pics of Cally meeting Blibble" threads. At the very least a separate thread would've helped. But whatever...

Just heard something interesting on the news - today in 1938 was the Orson Welles' radio broadcast of "War of the Worlds".

They also have a segment of how to look thinner without diet or exercise - just use hair and makeup tricks!! Suuuuure....

My brother-in-law was born three weeks to the day after that. I tease him that his mother heard the broadcast and was so scared that she went into labor.

The only "before" pics I have are from when the previous owner still had his chit here. I'll post some before/after shots here or elsewhere eventually, but not too much in public for obvious reasons


Painting's done except for some trim in the bathroom and guest room. Have done plenty, and still plenty to do! I'm trying not to clutter up like I usually do, so most of the "chit" is still in the garage I could post all day, every day, about it, but then I'd never get anything done since I'm also trying to get my money's worth from NetFlix and relaxing away from the computer. If there's no formal GBB Reunion next year, then plan on a flight to NJ next Summer if you wanna see it in person. Farthest traveler gets the guest room (if it's ready by then!)

What are the other alternatives/choices?

I didn't try the file manager, maybe that would work? I just tried to post images in the usual way with "[img]" links, but the pictures wouldn't show up.
