Manning already earned his ring - his legacy is solidified regardless of the outcome against the Saints. Had he still been chasing the ring, he still would have been labeled as "cannot win the big game," but he got that monkey off of his back.
Just ask Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Dan Marino, Barry Bonds, Don Mattingly, or Dan Fouts - they would have traded many of their records and individual accolades for a championship.

MIAMI (AP) A woman claims in a lawsuit filed only days before the Super Bowl that former Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin sexually assaulted her at a South Florida hotel, an allegation labeled a false attempt at "civil extortion" Friday by Irvin's attorney.
The woman, identified only as "Jane Doe," filed the lawsuit Thursday in Broward County Circuit Court seeking unspecified damages for the assault that allegedly occurred July 4 or 5, 2007, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.
The incident was reported to Seminole tribal police on July 20, 2007, but the woman later signed a waiver of prosecution, Seminole tribe spokesman Gary Bitner said.

So, more than likely, they had consensual sex gone bad. She threatened to expose him for being a brute. He promised to pay her off. He reneged on paying her. Now, three years later, she wants some money. I was never an Irvin fan, and I almost almost take the woman at her word in these entitled, spoiled, celebrity/athlete types of situations, but this sounds fishy to me.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been accused of sexual assault by a woman in Georgia, entertainment website TMZ reported Friday. Formal charges have yet to be filed. SportsByBrooks' take Brooks has the complete inside scoop, with developing details on the alleged incident. The alleged incident reportedly occurred early Friday morning in a bathroom in Capital City, a club in Milledgeville, Georgia. The alleged victim, who has already been interviewed by police, was treated at a local hospital and released, law enforcement sources told TMZ. Roethlisberger's representatives denied the allegations.
"Last night, Ben and his friends met a group of women and everyone mingled together throughout the evening," Roethlisberger's agent, Ryan Tollner, told profootballtalk.com. "We have spoken to law enforcement. Based on information currently available, an allegation was made against Ben, which appeared to be dismissed after a preliminary investigation last night. Obviously, given the prior accusation against Ben, we are skeptical of motive, but we will continue to cooperate with everyone involved." According to sportsbybrooks.com, Steelers offensive lineman Willie Colon was with Roethlisberger at the club.

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) Willie Davis, a speedy center fielder who collected two World Series rings, three Gold Gloves and was a two-time All-Star during his 14 seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, has died. He was 69.
"He was beloved by generations of Dodger fans and remains one of the most talented players ever to wear the Dodger uniform. Having spent time with him over the past six years, I know how proud he was to have been a Dodger. He will surely be missed and our sincere thoughts are with his children during this difficult time," Dodgers owner Frank McCourt said in a statement.
Davis was found dead Tuesday in his Burbank home, police said, adding that they did not believe foul play was involved. Davis' teammates included Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Johnny Roseboro, Junior Gilliam and Maury Wills. He won his World Series rings in 1963 and 1965.

I cannot believe there have not been comments from the Steeler fans about the latest Roethlisberger accusation. That now brings the tally to 3 idiotic actions he has taken in the past 5 offseasons: 1) his Evil Knievel impression when he nearly killed himself riding a motorcyle in 2006, 2) being accused of rape in 2008, and 3) the current accusation in Georgia of fondling a woman.
Regardless of the outcome, this guy acts as if he is bullet proof. At a minimum, Roethlisberger should be suspsended for 1/2 of the upcoming season. He obviously has a problem and finds himself, much like Pac Man Jones and Chris Henry, in situations where there is trouble. Unlike Tiger Woods, Ben is not married and can associate with whomever he wants. But if he had an ounce of common sense (which appears unlikely given the pattern of stupidity), he would think long and hard about where he hangs out. Even moreso now, there is a huge target on his back and he will be followed around by the supermarket press. And he has absolutely nobody to blame but himself.

Your analysis of Ben’s conduct is inane. First of all, the only information we are privy to is that available through the media. It is quite limited and much of it is subjective. I have not read the civil lawsuit complaint filed against him almost two years ago nor his countersuit. I have not read the criminal complaint recently filed against him. "... this guy acts as if he is bullet proof." Now, there's a standard we can all agrree upon. Just how does one act when one realizes that they are not bulletproof? How in God’s name do you conclude that “He obviously has a problem”? A problem with what? He “finds himself, much like Pac Man Jones and Chris Henry, in situations where there is trouble.”? Wow! How insightful. It’s a good thing that tens of millions of Americans patronize only those business establishments that are immune to “trouble” on their premises. “But if he had an ounce of common sense (which appears unlikely given the pattern of stupidity), he would think long and hard about where he hangs out.” How wise. In fact, just like other celebrities do, maybe Ben should consult Fodor’s list of business establishments where “trouble” simply never occurs or will occur.

Olivant, all due respect, I think you're having a hard time being objective here. Normally, you're the morals police here . For example, you're radically pro-life, yet you look at the (possible) sexual asaults of two women as no big deal? I find that a bit contradictory. And now that the subject matter involves your beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, you seem to want to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Now I'm not saying that Ben's guilty, but if it turns out that he goes out fondling women, then I'd say he does "have a problem," as Goombah suggests. Wouldn't you agree?

No, you and Goombah are being subjective. I reiterate: the only information available to us is that which is conveyed through the media. That media information concerns accusations only. By the way, part of Goombah's post was "He obviously has a problem." You though use the phrase "turns out". Well, yeah. That's why we have criminal and civil justice systems. Another by the way: there is nothing in my previous post that lends itself to a quantitative or qualitative evaluation of a "deal".

This is just what I expected from a Steelers apologist. You don't have the guts to comment on this very controversial subject until after someone else states an opinion - then all you do is attack. I'm not ashamed to admit that I detest Ben Roethlisberger. And I hope he goes to prison if he did rape either of these two women. I'm also realistic - he has money and hired what has been described as a very high profile attorney. So I sincerely doubt he will get more than a slap on the wrist when this is all said and done unless there is some video evidence. The fact that you can't see he has a problem is not my fault. Open your eyes - Roethlisberger's actions off the field have been reckless. If I was accused of rape, the last thing I would do is put myself in any future jeopardy of being in a similar situation of even having the allegation of impropriety. As far as your little tirade about getting information from the media, that's where the bulk of our information comes from - like it or not. Here is an article from a Pittsburgh newspaper, which summarizes the predicament that Roethlisberger has put himself into: Roethlisberger guilty of poor judgment

Long as I remember The rain been coming down. Clouds of Mystery pouring Confusion on the ground. Good men through the ages, Trying to find the sun; And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who'll stop the rain.
