Are you near any of the flooding in northern England?

MC, the flooding is in Cumbria which is the west coast of England. I am over on the east coast,but still it is only about a 100 miles across. They have had it pretty bad there. Touch wood we have had no flooding...yet. It is certainly raining enough for it

Cold hard frost last night,the first of winter. It was -2 when i was in the car at 9 this morning.

The New York City area is gonna get pounded tomorrow.... the National Weather Service is now calling for 8-12" in the City and 10-14" on Long Island (where a Blizzard Warning has been issue ~ something VERY rare for the area).

Beth E. is facing 10-20" in her area, and our Jersey members look to see 8-14".

Atlantic City weather is calling for 1-2" after midnight and 6-10" tomorrow. Oh joy . I stopped at Acme on the way home at 4:30 and there were no shopping baskets in the parking lot. I walked in the store and turned around. Each register had 4-5 deep. I only needed a few things. I'll go out in the morning, early. Maybe we'll get rain. The temperature will be the factor. Good thing I stocked up on booze and my co worker brought in some home made Coconut Rum....dessert!

We're suppose to get 1-2 tomorrow and less than a inch tomorrow night.

Let us know how you NY locals are holding up tomorrow if you get that white stuff.

Oh groan, we had 3 inches already at 7am. I went to Shop Rite and not too many people out and about. Only one cashier, but I breezed through. I'm all hunkered down for the day. Good Luck Long Island!

Lucky you!! I waited until 8:30 ~ the supermarket was MOBBED. I bought only four things and had to wait 20 minutes on the express checkout line (because so many people were on line).

It hasn't started here yet but the forecasters are sticking with about 15-18" and very high winds. Dunno if you remember the 1960-61 winter, MC, but it started off like this one and it was a great winter for snow-lovers.

When my wife and I woke up this morning, she told me to put on the weather channel to see what was going on regrding the snow that they've been saying we are going to get.

I looked at her and said "I'll go one better and sign onto the GangsterBB to find out."

She gave me this puzzled look and asked " Does Geoff have a weather report feature on there?" and I said "No, he's got SC, our BB weatherman!"

Not a bad idea, but it'd probably go unnoticed like the TV Listings

We got about a inch. The dog is happy.

I just measured 11" -- there's also a lot of snow on the ground!

It's 38 here; supposed to get into the 20s. Maybe snow for xmas. Glas I'm not i the northeast.

What is "xmas"? Is that a Texas thing?....xmas, Texas, like the song; "all my ex'es live in Texas, and maybe it'll snow for x-mas."

Until recently I thought the X in X-Mas was X'ing out Christ, but I've since learned that the Greek letter X (Chi) stands for Christ, and has for at least 1000 years.

Arrived in Germany last night for the xmas holidays and there was 3/4" of snow. built my first snowman since i was a kid this morning..

I couldn't even tell you the last snowman I built. I have no desire to do so either. Remember building snow forts anyone???? God, I remember freezing my ass off, but still I played in the snow.

Guess you dont't get much snow in California.. :), I'd much rather have cold weather to the extreme weather you get in Cali, dont know how i managed 9 months of sun on OZ..

Really DeNiro? Yea, all that sunshine can be a real drag.

A matter of taste I guess. Having lived 31 years in a snowy area and nearing 30 in CA, as far as weather goes, you simply can't beat CA.

My husband's company brought in three men from India to work for him. They arrived in the US in late May of this year. This past weekend's snowstorm is the first snow they've ever seen. They were completely fascinated, like children. My husband was very honored to share the experience with them and to teach them how to make a snowball. The thing that amazed one of them was that he left footprints in the snow. He thought it would be more like sand.

I can imagine that it would be quite amazing to see snow for the very first time. Were they taken aback at all by the cold???
