Thanks, DC!! Glad to be associated with such a fine series! And I was surprised to hear from you that it's been advertised. They didn't run the marathon for 4th of July, so I was curious about whether they'd cut the New Year's one, too. A wise decision for SyFy. Well they didn't specifically mention the marathon, it was just a regular advertisement for the Twilight Zone show that plays on the SyFy channel. Now that you mention it, I'm going to do a search to see if the marathon is on for New Years. Good hearing from you Gina. ( btw did you put up the Christmas GF lawn display this year? ) Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Yes, Rod Serling is the man to bring in the New Year with. In the Twilight Zone. That's true, especially for those of us who intend to kick back and have a good day curled up by the tv. In honor of Rod Serling, I found this interesting page with Rod Serling trivia. For example, I didn't know he was so short; or that he based some of the episodes on his own experiences; Did you all know that he co-wrote Planet of the Apes? There's a lot of tidbits. I forgot the others that later did the TZ intros, BUT nobody can replace the unmistakable voice of Rod Serling. TIS http://www.tv.com/rod-serling/person/9124/trivia.html

Ha. good one Tis. I don't know much about Rod. A couple of episodes I remember watching a few years ago during the New Years marathon were ones with a young Robert Duvall, and another with a young Burgess Meredith, the latter which I really liked. The episode ends with the book-worm Meredith finally getting his dream of a world with nothing but books, only to then break his reading glasses. I thought that was rather deep, although I remember TZ fans here not rating it too highly. Mostly I just remember watching late-night reruns when I was a kid: The episode where the hitch hiker keeps following the lady in her car and appearing in her rear view window was a rather freaky one. Though I can't say for sure if that was an original TZ idea or even if it was a Twilight episode at all?? All of those old black and white movies and shows tend to run together for me...

Ice, I loved the Meredith episode. I love that you don't know what was coming. Like with many TZs you know it may end weird, but when his glasses broke, that was a TZ classic. TIS

Ice, the hitch hiker episode was indeed a TZ, and it scares me quite a bit. TIS, thanks for that great link! One of my favorite quotes, which is listed there, is the one from "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street": " The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs, and explosions, and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, ideas, prejudices, to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy. A thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own for the children and the children yet unborn. And the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone."

Other tidbits about Serling that you maybe didn't know (per the article I attached) Carol, Rod's wife, was disowned by everyone except her grandmother because her family did not approve of her marrying a Jew. Rod was considered to be one of the radical new voices, which made the "Golden Age" of TV. Serling has been spoofed by the famous sketch show Saturday Night Live *** Don't we all remember how many times not just SNL, but many spoofs of TZ intro mimicking RS. TIS
