Yeah, because Batista wasn't out for himself at all .

He was a crook, too. Maybe not quite the dictator that Castro would become, but a thief nonetheless. And he was friends with all kinds of gangsters, too.

Batista would have fit right in with the darker, criminal side of the American way (like the Mafia), in that he tried to project an image for himself that was heads and shoulders above the way he actually lived.
