An insider said that producers of the hit Fox show American Idol say Howard Stern, America's highest-paid radio personality, is their top choice to take over from Cowell, who leaves at the end of this season. They approached the King of All Media after he repeatedly mentioned on-air that his exclusive Sirius XM Radio deal expires next January and he was open to other offers. Cowell was paid $50 million a year. A source connected to "Idol" said, "It's one of the few shows that could compete with Stern's $100 million-a-year Sirius contract, and 'Idol' bosses think he'd be even nastier than Simon.

"They know he would be great TV and would clash with the other judges such as Ellen DeGeneresand the contestants. 'Idol' will do what it takes to sign him."

i would like to see conan 0 brien take the job...then get replaced 7 months by simon cowell.

Stern? I was a big Stern fan in the 80s and 90s, and then his act just got old. Cowell, for all his brutality, carries it out with some level of class (pehaps that's just that Americans are always impressed by a British accent). Stern has none.

I can see it now he'll ask the females to get naked for the auditions.

Well, if this means anything, I just heard a review of the movie on a local L.A. station and they bashed it, saying something like, "how can two academy award winning actors make such a bad film?" eek This reviewer says that the transformation scenes were the best part of the movie, but we already see that in the previews. Hmmmmm Sort of discouraging, but many times I don't agree with these people. Yet, it may become a "rental" after all. ohwell

The local reviews here weren't quite that bad, but most of what I've seen and read have been that it's simply "meh", that even Hopkins is barely OK. And it's downright bloody beyond belief. There's disembowelments and beheadings left and right.

I just watched the episode of "Cheers" when Woody and Kelly get married. Woody walks into the kitchen and delivers one of the funniest lines in sitcom history.

Woody: Does anyone have a plunger?

Sam: Why, is there something wrong with the toilet?

Woody: No, my Uncle Elroy left his leg on the bus and he wants to dance.

lol lol

I can't stop laughing.

(EW.com) -- When a grassroots campaign involves both Facebook and a beloved "Golden Girl," the scope of its influence cannot be underestimated.

To wit: Sources confirm to me exclusively that "Saturday Night Live" is thisclose to signing TV legend Betty White to host the show for the very first time.

But there's a catch -- and a pretty cool one at that.

White would not be hosting alone. Rather, I hear "SNL" is putting together a "Women of Comedy" episode that would team the former Rose Nylund with several of her younger contemporaries. Ex-"SNL" MVP Molly Shannon is on board, I hear, and feelers have also been put out to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

Long-time bandleader for The Tonight Show, Kevin Eubanks, is reportedly leaving the show. Eubanks is expected to be on the show when it returns in March, but leave soon after that. (Feb. 18)

Updated: in the local people meter markets Leno was twice as popular with adults 18-49, scoring a 2.0 rating vs a 1.0 rating for Letterman.

In the metered market houshold ratings between 11:30p-12:30a Jay Leno’s return to The Tonight Show dominated Leterman and Late Show. Leno had a 5.4/14 (household rating/share) to Letterman’s 3.0/8.

SB, I've never seen the show, but I saw this comment of yours earlier today, then I came across this just now on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpurPlu8D4w

You and/or your daughters should totally do it!

We are counting down the minutes until the April 13th, when the show returns. We tried to get tickets to see them in May in NYC. Even though they added a 3rd show, we were unable to get anything. You can get them on Ebay or through ticket brokers, but I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars for a $40 ticket. It's disgraceful that Ticketmaster controls every concert, and an "average" person finds it next to impossible to get tickets to anything.
