Well since I almost always report sunny weather, I'm happy to report that it is raining and has been raining all night. They predict rain the whole week. I don't mind really. I've always liked the rain.

No, fortunately, I'm not in a mudslide area.
The bad thing here, when it rains, is people can't drive. It's a constant light rain but the freeways come to a standstill. No doubt, you'd probably laugh if you'd see how freaked out people get here.

Even tho the visibility is really not bad and you should be careful, IF I were working, I'd definitely leave at least 15 minutes earlier and prepare for crawling traffic.

Since you live in sunny California, can you explain the lyric in one of Sinatra's standards "The Lady is a Tramp" which goes "she hates California, it's cold and it's damp"?

I have no idea Oli but good question. I know (and like) that song. My first instinct would be to say, "well, it rhymes" but that's not the rhyming word in the lyrics. They could have used any number of other places (Seattle maybe).

Southern California has always been mostly sunny as far as I'm concerned. The only possibility (as far as the song is concerned) perhaps they refer to Northern CA which, from what I understand, is cooler and does get much more rain than us. Blib would be the expert there.

But yea, who thinks of California as cold and damp.

Parts of L.A. are now under a tornado warning!! (VERY rare out there).

TIS, did you hear anything about it?

I didn't know until I saw your post. I checked our local L.A. station and apparently they say the winds are strong enough to produce a "tornado" in the L.A. area,including Long Beach and some of O.C. including Santa Ana and Anaheim (which is probably the closet city to my area). They said the warning is til 1:15 which means it should be done now. I'll keep my eyes/ears open.

My SIL works in that direction. I called my daughter and luckily, it's his day off so that's good.

Truth be told, with no basements here, I have know idea where I'd run to. The thought of lying in a dirty wet ditch isn't very appealing.
Seriously, I'll do what I need to do, but don't feel threatened where I am (thankfully).

Sitting in my office right now, and I can't believe the wind and rain. The wind is positively HOWLING out there.

It was an ugly drive in this morning, and I'm guessing that the ride home is going to be worse.

SB, the rain has stopped down here and the wind is from the south, so you might be clearing in a couple of hours. It was a nasty morning.

The rain just stopped here (almost as if someone turned the faucet off) and the sky has brightened considerably.

SB, you'll be getting a line of showers coming through in about an hour, and after that (won't last long) the rain will be finished. It's gonna get colder, though.

55-60 now, but it'll get down to 25 by the end of the week.

I'm at Becky's this weekend. We wanted to see my babies since they got hurt this week. We woke up this morning to about 5 inches of snow. I left Ohio yesterday to get away from the snow but no we must've brought it with us. and it's still coming down.

Don't you just love the weather forecast. Yesterday they were predicting a cloudy day today. At 10 am it started snowing. It is now 9am and it hasn't stopped. There is about 6 inches on the ground. But its light and fluffy and 15 degrees. WTF

You got 6 inches of cloudy in your driveway.

What??? I haven't read anything about that... I hope Toms River didn't get hit since I'm coming back down Sunday afternoon.
