I have the old fashioned TVs where they are big bulky and square. I am so tired of everyone else having flat screens.

LONDON - People who spend a lot of time surfing the Internet are more likely to show signs of depression, British scientists said on Wednesday.

But it is not clear whether the Internet causes depression or whether depressed people are drawn to it.

Psychologists from Leeds University found what they said was "striking" evidence that some avid net users develop compulsive Internet habits in which they replace real-life social interaction with online chat rooms and social networking sites.

does everything in life leads to something...whats next buying a 40+ inch TV shows you are depressed about your life.

Attorney William G. Halby, who practiced law for 20 years and specialized in taxation, went all the way to Tax Court. When the members stopped snickering, the Court said no.

Halby’s attempted medical deductions for visits to New York prostitutes and the costs of videos and other pornographic materials were not allowable under the Tax Code.

That is a crying shame.

The government retains the right to be the only one allowed to legally screw us.

If they get to screw us shouldn't they send every household a coupon for a big tube of KY Jelly?

I called up Comcast to add HD programming and they said I don't have to pay extra for it?? I already have an HD-DVR and they said that's all I needed. Why don't I believe them? Cuz their site says HDTV costs $9.25/month and I just assumed they'd be more than happy to ream me for more money each month.

I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

No other cable providers, just satellite -- FiOS isn't even here yet in most areas.

Don't know if you were just addressing Geoff or not, but in my area no. As far as that goes, you HAVE to have cable tv (at least basic or) to get any kind of reception. The cable company in my area (Time Warner) can and has raised prices every year.
Though I really can't complain about their service, it's not fair that they can keep raising costs knowing we have no other choice.

Hmm. I guess that makes sense JG, because there since you already have a HD-DVR you don't need any other "translator". But I also live in an area that is dominated by Comcast-no other cable provider- and they are ALWAYS happy to raise the price. I think the additional price for HD signal is for the signal itself and the actual cable box. Please let us know if they truly do not charge you extra. Evidently, being The Don comes with privileges...

Yup, SB, Comcast also raises prices every year. I am thinking about satellite but haven't decided as of yet.

Yea, I'm sorry you can get direct or dish. I was thinking just cable I guess. To be honest, I am not familiar with either of the other two. I don't like the big dish satellite that makes the building look ugly. I don't know if either are any cheaper or if you can get all the stations as with cable.

Right now, I get my internet and extended cable tv thru Time Warner. Btw, TW is now offering telephone service as well.
It always sounds good because their deals usually are one price for a year and then after that year it increases considerably.

Do you recommend either Dish/direct? The good thing about TW though is I very very seldom have any problems with either the Internet or cable tv.

I have Direct Tv and it's ok but if we get a real hard rain the signal goes out.

Ditto what Mig said. We lose our DirecTv signal maybe 3-4 times per year, mainly in a hard downpour, occasionally due to heavy snow or very high winds.

I had Dish and it was awesome, it hardly ever went out, maybe once a year if that. The DVR is really nice and set up a lot better than Comcast too. I have Comcast now but if I didn't need the internet I'd have Dish.

I have the Dish Network in Florida and Cablevision in New York. I have to be honest, Cablevision is better, if only for the superior customer service.

Is it bad that instead of taking the Christmas tree down I left all the ornaments on it and carried it to the garage?

My lights are still up but they have been covered in snow most of the time.

Yay! My new toy came today and it seems to be working nicely. And I'm getting the HD channels w/o having to pay extra for them. Will have to tinker with the settings when I get home later...
