Mark,

I used to watch Fox just because of Brigitte Quinn, one of their anchors. She's really hot! But once she offhandedly referred to North Korea as "the Axis Of Evil nation," referencing Bush's phrase. This really spooked me--I felt like I was living in the Soviet Union or some other totalitarian country where the government owns the media. And she seemed to not even be cognizant of how her remark violated the NPOV that media outlets (at least in theory) are supposed to have. She's not on FOX anymore, so there's no reason for me to watch it anymore.

Let me tell ya somethin my kraut mick friend!

In a bizarre story, the actor Rip Torn has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a Connecticut bank, armed with a loaded gun.

According to authorities, Torn forced entry into a Litchfield Bancorp building and set off an alarm. When police arrived, they found him “with a loaded revolver” and “highly intoxicated.”

Yea, what's up with these celebrities and these "odd" behavior episodes. Randy Quaid and his wife were arrested for not paying a hotel bill and/or trashing a hotel???? Are these people that desperate??? confused

Rip Torn claims he thought he was in his own house. He took his shoes off and left them by the door. HIGHLY intoxicated.

LOS ANGELES - Prosecutors plan to charge Michael Jackson’s doctor with manslaughter rather than take the case to a grand jury, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press Tuesday.

Prosecutors will file a criminal complaint against Dr. Conrad Murray, who practices in Houston, instead of taking the case before a grand jury, which is done in private, the official said.

I just know heard about Michael Jackson's doctor on MSN. That means a lesser sentence right? Possibly no jail time? confused

TIS, it's mostly a prosecution strategy. Grand juries don't always indict. Also, they are secret.

That's interesting Oli. Thinking in more recent terms, I guess I would have thought maybe Titanic or ET would have been in top spot.

Then again, I remember The Sound Of Music was really a huge hit. I too remember all the buzz on The Exorcist. It was also a bit hit. I was one of those who simply had to read the book first.

I too still remember The Graduate. I think the music from that movie lived on for years afterward.

However, where the heck is "The Godfather?" mad confused

Don't get me wrong, I liked GWTW and I too have heard it referred to the best movie ever made, and I know many agree. I don't. Call me wacky. ohwell I'd have a very very hard time narrowing it down to one movie, BUT, even still, I think the GF is much better than GWTW.

Oh, I LOVE Gone With The Wind! Yes, it may be an unrealistic view of a time that SHOULD have passed, but the majesty, the clothes, and who can you love more than Scarlett O'Hara? She was just ahead of her time.

You know I am really looking forward to the new Wall Street movie. BUT, I have never seen the first believe it or not. ohwell I am thinking of renting it probably on Sunday.

I guess when it came out the whole idea of Wall street didn't interest me. Today, for obvious reasons I am thinking it might be very interesting. I always got a chill though at the Gordon Gekko scene "Greed is Good." So cold!!!!

Anyway, I saw a very brief preview with Gekko now out of jail, and the quote from the clip is by Gekko; "I have been quoted as saying Greed is good. I hear now it's legal."

Anyway, I think it's released this month, so I better hurry and see part one first. smile Anyone else interested in seeing this film?

Btw, I didn't know that Gekko went to jail at the end of the first one. But, that's what I get for waiting 20 some years before seeing a movie. lol I guess I know how the first one ends.

GWTW is one of my favorite movies, but I don't know if I want to turn my home into Tara. lol

I think that Scarlett is very misunderstood. So many people think she's just a manipulative b*tch, but they all would have starved genteelly to death if it wasn't for her.

Thanks for posting that, Tis. I LOVED the original. It's one of my favorite films of the '80s. I saw it in the theatre during its initial run in 1987, and was so taken by it, that I bought the videotape when it was released. And you have to remember, buying videotapes back then was not common. You could really only pay retail back in the pre-Blockbuster days. I think it cost me like 70 bucks, which was kind of ridiculous in hindsight.

Anyway, the trailer looks great, but I have one problem with it. When I think of those scumbag insider traders from the '80s, like Michael Milken and Ivan Boesky, I recall that they all got sweetheart deals from the Feds. So is it believable that Gordon Gekko would actually do 20 years in prison?

Hopefully, one of our legal minds will weigh-in on this.

Thats the movies. Unlike in real life the bad guys serve 20 years. You are absolutely right that white collar criminals usually get away with their misdeeds. Remember the legal talent they pay for is better educated, wealthier, and has more resources than most U.S. Attorneys or D.A. offices.

My only problem with the sequel is that Michael Douglas ha been playing some version of Gordon Gecko for his entire career.

As Anatole France famously said, I am paraphrasing, the law prevents the rich and poor from sleeping under bridges in an equal fashion.

"Io sono stanco, sono imbigliato, and I wan't everyone here to know, there ain't gonna be no trouble from me..Don Corleone..Cicc' a port!"

Dave Chappelle had a classic Law & Order spoof about what it would look like if white collar criminals were treated like street criminals.

Tron Carter

"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives."
Winter is Coming

Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.
As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

An insider said that producers of the hit Fox show American Idol say Howard Stern, America's highest-paid radio personality, is their top choice to take over from Cowell, who leaves at the end of this season. They approached the King of All Media after he repeatedly mentioned on-air that his exclusive Sirius XM Radio deal expires next January and he was open to other offers. Cowell was paid $50 million a year. A source connected to "Idol" said, "It's one of the few shows that could compete with Stern's $100 million-a-year Sirius contract, and 'Idol' bosses think he'd be even nastier than Simon.

"They know he would be great TV and would clash with the other judges such as Ellen DeGeneresand the contestants. 'Idol' will do what it takes to sign him."

Did you see the "mobile" phone they gave him in the beginning of the clip. lol

The good news is the first Wall Street is NOW on "On Demand" thru mid March. SO, I hope to see it this weekend or shortly after. I'm actually looking forward to it.
