We had a beautiful weekend down here in South Jersey. On Saturday I went to the Range also. There were massive lakes. The range is artifical turf. It may not drain (or dry up for weeks).

I read an interview with Fuzzy Zoeller once. He claims that growing up in Indiana, they played in the winter with a tennis ball and a pitching wedge out in the snow. He swears that's why he always had such a sharp short game.

El Nino is gripping the entire West. We've had the harshest winter in five years here in the high desert of AZ. Today it snowed and hailed constantly. The sun would break out, then darken, more hail and snow. Snowed and stuck at 41 degrees, snowed and didn't stick at 34 degrees, fog...absolutely crazy.

Last year we had a total of 11 inches of precip. So far this year we've had 9.

It's been sunny and around 60 here for the last few days. I would say that about 80% of the snow is gone, but areas in shade are still white, and the large piles in the corners of parking lots are still there. This weekend it's supposed to be in the mid 50's and it's going to POUR for three days. The ground is already saturated from the melting snow, so I don't know what's going to happen once it starts to rain.

It's been sunny and cool here, remaining I believe in the 60's. The wind makes it kind of brisk but still a pretty day. smile

Getting ready for three straight days of rain here, including some HEAVY (maybe 4" worth) stuff on Saturday. Gonna batten down the hatches, store up some goodies and make a movie marathon weekend.

The ten day forecast is showing highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s every single day. Dare we hope that it's done snowing for the season?

I like it...since it's the weekend and I don't have to go out in it. Wish it WAS snow...can you IMAGINE what a blizzard this would be!

Spring/Summer weather will arrive soon enough. Looking forward to it, but gotta live with what Mother Nature dishes out.

I'm with you! I can't stand this any more. We were spoiled by the beginning of the week, nice and sunny.

Our power went out, but then came right back on.

Thankfully the power was back on when I got home. My mom called and said she was making spaghetti and sausage and I just couldn't sit home in the dark after hearing that! grin

Since Sept 09 we have had at least five Nor'easters on the Jersey coast. The ground is saturated. Major puddles everywhere. Yesterday I went to the beach to see how things were blowin'. The Ventnor fishing pier extends out into the ocean. I walked out about 100 yards and stood behind the fishing shack. I nearly got blown over walking out there. Always with my camera, I took a little movie of the action. This morning at 6:30am I was awoken by a massive thunder storm that shook the house. eek Uh-Oh, here comes another one.
Jersey Shore Nor'easter

For you folks in other countries or other parts of the US, a Nor'easter is storm that hits the East Coast of the US and is caused by Low pressure over the Atlantic Ocea. It rotates in a counterclockwise direction-winds from the Northeast. They can be more destructive than a hurricane. Often they just sit off the coast and keep pounding away.

Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, whoever humbles himself will be exalted - Matthew 23:12

Cool vid, MC, but it is almost impossible to capture the power of a storm like this on tape.

Yesterday's storm was the worst we had in a while here. I had a peak wind gust over 55 mph and that's only average of some of the numbers. My house was creaking and groaning all day long (I have a new cat who didn't like those sounds at all ~ on the bright side, she came up on the bed and slept next to me for the first time).

Huge trees are down everywhere, and the flood-prone areas (mostly in Jersey) are living up to their reputation.

4-5" of rain and winds over 40 mph is not a good combination!! And just like MC experienced this morning, we have some big thunderstorms due in about a half hour.

I've had no power for almost 20 hours now, and my roof is shot. Several of my neighbors' roofs are severely damaged too. The news reports we had wind gusts in excess of 75 MPH.

The news is reporting that Staten Island has the largest number of power outages in the City. It may be a few days before it all gets restored.
