Well, you can always find some strappin' young fellas on Craig's List willing to move your shit -- but they won't be insured for any damages, so it's not advisable.
I don't know how much you have or how far you have to go, but my 2-BR apt ended up costing like $600 or something for a few hours to go a few miles. And I still had a lot left over they couldn't fit on the truck. But they did the heavy lifting -- and my back is pretty bad as well.
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

BTW, I looked at a house down the block (4-5 houses away) when I was house-hunting, but settled on the one I'm in. During the past bad storm, a tree fell into the roof of the other house I wasn't gonna buy it anyway, but, I feel kinda lucky about that...

I have but never used movers. Maybe if they packed and unpacked everything too it'd be worth it. My back can't take it either way so I'll have to pay. When we moved from an apartment to base housing the movers even put our garbage in boxes.

My husband is very methodical about packing. He gives each box a number and that number, with a brief description of the box's contents, is written on a corresponding list. My job on moving day was to stand at the front door with the list, and when the movers walked in, to say, "Oh, #16? That goes in the kitchen," and it really made it easier to unpack. We moved to this house in November, and were organized enough to host Christmas Eve that year.
After being here for almost 14 years, though, I think it would be easier to burn the place down and start over rather than try to pack again.

So I apply online for a part time job with a small video store chain - because or economy is improving and on the rise again! Anyway, I get a first interview with the store manager and his assistant - two young men old enough to be my sons (in fact one of them grew up with my son and are still friends). It went okay because they asked me to come back the next day and take a "test". I was told it is a basic skills test with math, spelling, reading and simple problem solving. I get all dressed up in my "big boy" clothes again and get ready to leave & take the test. My 17 year old daughter (who is wise beyond her years) says to me: "Why do you need to take a test?!? Any moron can rent out a dvd or video game!" Thanks a lot, honey. I actually found it quite comical and it rleased my stress instantly. After I turned the test in to the manager he checks it and said I did pretty good. I think I tanked the math part but whatta you gonna do? He said the next step is to come in for an interview with the district manager next week when she comes to town and I'll get a call tomorrow setting it all up. I won't lie, I'm feeling pretty good about this and have one foot out the door when the manager says: "Oh, by the way, you'll have to shave off your entire beard because we have a no facial hair policy with this company." I had the beard yesterday - how did he miss that?!? So, any "moron" can rent out dvd's, video games and porn movies to snot noses and perverts as long as he is clean shaven! Needless to say I'm not taking the job. With the exception of 6 years in the navy, I've had that beard since I was 17 years old...My beard is older than the manager!

As obesity increases, so does challenge to EMS Sunday, March 21, 2010 By Michael A. Fuoco, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
As recently as two decades ago, ambulance service crews rarely encountered patients who were overweight or obese.
These days, it's not unusual for paramedics, both here and nationally, to transport patients who weigh 300 or 400 pounds -- sometimes even in the 600- to 700-pound range. Or more.
That's because obesity rates for Americans have more than doubled since 1976. As the waistlines of Americans have grown, so too have the challenges for EMS personnel in cost, personnel, equipment, training, safety and transport protocol.
In the United States, 34 percent of adults and 17 percent of children were obese, while more than two-thirds of adults and almost one-third of children were overweight in 2007-2008, according to findings released in January by the Centers for Disease Control. Height and weight calculations determine who is considered to be overweight or obese.

Looks like Apple and Mig have their clutches into Geoff pretty good now. He'll have to be surgically removed now to get back to normal. On the bright side, he should be able to afford to do so now.

Geoff, I expected more from you. You have a particular view on this bill or Madame Speaker, state it. But that comment? It's really below you. This is "Random Post Whoring"

What was I thinking? That should make it perfectly OK to use sexually degrading and misogynistic terms that some might find offensive as a way to disagrees with another's politics (smacks forehead in a "should have had a V8" gesture). As for healthcare reform, as someone who was recently hospitalized for several days and is now dealing with who is going to pay for what (and I have what many would consider pretty decent coverage), I personally feel that change is welcome. LN, thanks for posting that Ted Kennedy quote. It's so sadly true.
