i am happy for this bill to be passed, but it does suck that taxes will be up...if anything though i believe that the upper class should pay more of it then the middle and lower class.

but, yea i do understand why some people are mad about this bill...to me and my life i am happy about this being born with handicap (not mental, so no comments from you geoff or anybody else ).

I would like to know what other people think of this, especially those members who have been or are instructors/professors in college/high school. I was briefly a TA in grad school but never ran across any situation like this. I think the student was stupid for not realizing that she wasn't going to win that dispute.

"Teacher/Prof did the right thing - kept telling the student they had two options.... leave or I will call security and they will make you leave.

Then when the student tells security you will have to carry me out and tries to squirm away security does the right thing. She made her choices and she was cuffed for her safety and the safety of the other students.

Not only should she be arrested and charged but I would think she should be expelled from school. This should not be tolerated or defended at any level. Once she is in college she has to learn that her actions reactions have consequences. No one should have to put up with that kind of behavior, students, teachers, security guards - NO ONE.

I read some of these comments and think there is no way to justify sticking up for this student and her poor behavior and all the choices she made."


I couldn't say it any better then that!

Lilo, I taught an SAT class for a test prep center (obviously high school kids). Never in a million years should anyone have to tolerate that kind of behavior. So, you paid to be there? So did all the other students in the class. You object to a test question? Then speak to the professor during office hours or after class. You don't get to monopolize the class, use foul language or threaten anyone.

College is supposed to prepare you for "real life". Do you think you could talk to your supervisor or manager like that and get away with it?? Don't think so!

Unfortunately, people have come to equate free speech with a lack of civility and respect. Make your point, but use the avenues available to you.

I've never suffered an eruption from one of my students. That could be because I'm pretty frank with them about how I deal with such situations. But you've got to expect emotional demonstrations from them. I deal with them one at a time.

I was just amazed and frankly a little amused that the student felt so free throwing the profanity and acting out. She should have recognized that she wasn't going to win. Talk to the professor after class/during office hours or if need be protest to the department head/dean of academic affairs or ombudsman. But doing what she did I don't get. Getting taken down and pulled out of class in handcuffs didn't prove anything.

Music producer Richard R. Finch, who cofounded KC and the Sunshine Band, confessed to authorities Wednesday that he has had sex with teenage boys.

Barry returned from a doctor's visit one day and told his wife Carolyn that the doctor said he only had 24 hours to live.
