Hey there Bam! I was at my daughter's. Her husband and her felt it but I didn't. I was moving around so I think that's why I didn't feel it. They were sitting down. I did see the hanging candles sway back and forth right after though. What surprised me was they announced it was a 6.9 which is quite big. On my way home however, they upgraded to a 7.2. I believe an 8.0 is considered a massive quake. It centered in Mexico which would affect SolCal (mainly San Diego) mostly. However the local news said that the buildings in San Diego & L.A. were swaying back and forth. To my knowledge, no damage or injuries, thankfully. Since Blib is in NoCal I doubt he felt it. TIS

I'm watching rugby on the TV,then going to work later. Not a great way to spend Good Friday. Well, rugby players are almost as violent as the Roman soldiers who crucified Jesus, so you have that connection going for you, Yogi . True enough PB, true enough

A debit payment is really the same thing, so I don't know why people would bother writing out a check. Exactly. Checks hold everything up. It's 2010 already! lol
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

Whole Foods will no longer accept personal checks in payment. Evidently this is a new corporate wide policy that is being rolled out. A debit payment is really the same thing, so I don't know why people would bother writing out a check. Kiting.

I just like using checks to keep track of my expenses and have a record of what was done. So a receipt isn't good enough? Also don't debit cards have POS fees? No, they don't. Only if you use them at an ATM machine not owned by your back may you be charged a fee for withdrawing cash. Never a fee for using it as a debit ("credit") card.

A lot of older people seem to like the idea of still being able to write a check. I guess it's because most older people just don't like change.
At any rate, in my neighborhood some of the local bars and grocery stores still cash checks for their regular customers. To tell you the truth, even though it's antiquated, cashing a personal check in a local bar, or deli, on a Sunday, when the banks are closed, almost feels nostalgic. It's a link to the past.
I, for one, hope they never completely do away with paper checks.

It wasn't til I retired that I finally got direct deposit. I would go to the bank to cash my check every month. Since I moved and retired, I hardly walk into a bank. I even pay all my bills on line thru my bank's "bill pay". It's so easy and I like it better than having the company take it out. I do it when I want to. Once you get all your debtors info input, you simply put the amount and click pay. No stamps, no mailing. I keep track of what/when I pay thru my checkbook, but each transaction is kept track of on-line too. I can even easily switch money from my savings to checking or vice versa. I really have to ask myself why it took so long. That being said though, for some reason I still haven't gone paperless, where the statements are sent to me via e-mail. I still have them send me a copy. I guess I like to have a "physical" copy for my files. TIS

I still don't understand what the big deal was over this. Why would anyone really care? It's only a big deal in Red States like Mississippi.
