...and I got 58 pts from those 3 starts. I'm okay with that. tongue

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

I don't care if I'm 6 starts above the pace. (Didn't realize it was that many lol ). You never know if an ace will go down next month. If the matchup is good, I'm going to go for it.

Hmm. Should I start all my starters today, and go for first, or play it conservative. Got 2 questionable ones. Lefty @ Boston, and rookie @ TB.

Well, how can you bench Romero (with those numbers) when I'm rolling the dice with Jurrjens against the Mets whistle

I thought Romero was a rookie, but he actually went 13-9 last year.

now what's with that blockbuster trade?

one pitcher coming from the best performance of his career, another one coming from 19 straigh IP without allowing an earned run, both getting snubbed and the almighty champion aiming for a backup catcher? are you shopping Mauer??? lol

I have roster issues. No backup catcher, and way too many pitchers. Lidge is coming off the DL this week, which means I'd have to cut a pitcher. (plus I hate Lidge's guts, and didn't know if I'd get 2008 Lidge or 2009 Lidge) I was going to cut Zumaya, but right now he's throwing 100MPH, is unhittable, and a top 4 RP. If I was going to sign a backup catcher, I'd have to cut a 2nd pitcher. Cutting Zambrano was an option, but he offers me value now pitching in relief, without using up a RP slot. Justin D. is pitching great now, but is always hurt, and IMO doesn't have the upside of my younger pitchers. Doumit should be a perfect backup. He isn't hitting now, but is usually a good fantasy catcher. I figured I'd get something in return instead of just dropping pitchers for nothing. It's a nice problem to have too many quality pitchers. grin

oh then I'll have to cancel my Webb+Strasburg+Carmona+Burnett for Mauer trade offer? fuck....

it's always a gamble with mid tier starters and you're probably better off with the high reward possibilty of a young pitcher. I hear that noth Matusz and Romero are supposed to be future aces or close to that. just beware for the lack of wins though. that's sooo frustrating. I hope we come to the day when we award a starter 3 pts for a W and nothing for a loss.

Matusz and Romero both had quality starts yesterday, but didn't get the win because their bullpens imploded after they left. ohwell

I know scoring is subject to change, but how did the Braves' Hanson get credit for a complete game, and the Mets' Pelfrey did not? They both pitched 5 innings in a 5 inning game.

I don't know, didn't watch. But RP Valdes is listed in the box score, despite actually doing anything... we'll see tomorrow I guess.

Hmmm. Maybe he was announced into the game to start the 6th, even though they never played it? But even if he was, the inning never existed, so it should still be a complete game for Pelfrey.

I was wondering the same thing JL until I saw that Valdes threw one pitch for a strike (after which, they called the game). I guess that one pitch officially counted which means no complete game for Pelfrey.

I was just about to say the same thing. I just read in the paper that Valdes threw 1 pitch. Oh well. I'm not complaining. Pelfrey did not pitch great, but got a cheap win and kept his scoreless streak alive.

lol

You know, I just noticed that the other day (or knew before but since forgotten). Sabathia pitched all 8 innings in a loss (didn't have to pitch in the 9th since the Yanks were losing and they were the away team) and he got credit for a complete game.

I've seen the 8 inning complete game loss too.
