I don't care if I'm 6 starts above the pace. (Didn't realize it was that many ). You never know if an ace will go down next month. If the matchup is good, I'm going to go for it. See? "LHP Jorge De La Rosa was placed on the disabled list with a torn flexor tendon band in his left middle finger. He is likely to be out at least a month."

it is a risky deal for sure, but I consider Utley a top 5 player and couldn't pass on the chance to get him without giving away any remarkable player. one could argue that the top 5 players in fantasy baseball are Pujols, Han-Ram, A-Rod, Cabrera and Utley and now I have 3 of them. Rickie Weeks and Josh Hamilton can either be the breakout stars of the season or go down with injuries tomorrow and never recover. I lean towards them providing borderline above average production and I'm much better off with Utley's carved in stone line of .299/.380/.520 with 30 HR and 100 RBI. Weeks has alrady considerably cooled off after a hot start and outfielders who can hit grow on trees. unless Hamilton does go on to live up to all of his talent I don't think I'll regret passing on him for the likes of Nate McLouth/Adam Jones or whoever falls from last of ownable CF's to the waiver wire. as for Lackey and Burnett, I've been on the verge of dropping them for nothing before and figured I could include them in a package for a superstar. no one expressed interest in neither one of them in other trade offers and I personally don't like them very much. second tier starters always underachieve with the Yankees and Red Sox and I only drafted them in the first place in search for cheap wins. I still have 5 reasonable SP, plus 3 good ones coming up sometime soon so I really thougt I could afford to trade them away. anyway, it's obvious that if I pulled off the deal it's because I thought I was getting the best of it. I understand that I might've made God's Offal team better too but as long as it makes me finish 1st and him 2nd, I don't care

I've already stated many times that we should go SABR-crazy and just ignore losses in our scoring. Zack Greinke must be the perfect example why I think this way. he had a 2.11 ERA in in his last 46 starts (!) before sunday and the Royals had a 22-24 record in those games. read this great article if you want to undertand how is that a team has a losing record when the starting gives up 2 ER every 9 innings. the only way to understand is really listing all the 26 games they lost and seeing how many defensive errors and how many bullpen collapses the Royals experience, and how few runs they score. oh, the article came out on wednesday and as you know on sunday Greinke pitched 8 innings, allowed 4 hits and 1 ER with no walks and 6 strikeouts and the Royals lost 1-0. ugh!

Glad I benched Scherzer (-31) at the last minute. Really dodged a bullet! 10 ERs in 4 innings?? lol
