Waitress fired for gripe about tip on Facebook updated 2 hours, 20 minutes ago
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A North Carolina waitress is out of a job after griping on her Facebook page about the $5 tip she got from a couple who sat at their table for three hours. The waitress says the customers kept her at work an hour after she was supposed to clock out.

The Charlotte Observer reported Monday that 22-year-old Ashley Johnson felt slighted after waiting on the couple at Brixx Pizza.

So she blasted the couple on Facebook, calling them cheap and mentioning the restaurant by name.

NRA bans guns during its annual meeting

In an ironical twist, the National Rifle Association (NRA) has banned guns during their annual meeting. The news was confirmed by a statement on the NRA website itself.

Well, that Commission is similar to public utility commissions in most if not all of the states. Their powers are enabled by either/or their state constitutions or state law. They are regulatory; they do not run power companies. It would be a dubious assertion that they could dictate customer selection to a power company. May 19, 2009: With cheerleading stunts getting more daring, devastating injuries are increasing. Laura Jackson broke her neck while attempting a back tuck at cheer tryouts. She’s now a quadriplegic, adjusting to a new life on the sidelines.

Cheerleading — not basketball, not softball, not even field hockey or ice hockey — is by far the most dangerous sport for girls. Cheer accounts for 65 percent of all catastrophic injuries in girls’ high school athletics, shows a recent report by the National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research at the University of North Carolina.

That’s especially striking considering cheerleaders make up just about 12 percent of the 3 million female high school athletes in the U.S.

So, what do we do? Kids never recognize the risks of anything they do, so do we parents step in and restrict or stop them? Some of the cheer stunts are beyond what is necessary to exemplify cheer skill.

Woman found in contempt of court for profane t-shirt.

Jennifer LaPenta did not even have to be in court the day she was held in contempt and jailed. The 20-year-old woman had left the gym and accompanied a friend to court when the judge spotted her t-shirt and flipped.

The shirt, which read "I have the p****, so I make the rules," was apparently too offensive for Lake County Judge Helen Rozenberg, who "singled her out from the gallery and charged her with contempt of court" in early May, the Lake County News Sun reported.

In my opinion, there ARE certain places that I would not be so casual, and court is one of them. I don't know about any other state, but here in California (at least SoCal) there is a dress code, as anyone who has been called to jury duty would know. While it's not a real strict dress code, you are told not to wear certain things (i.e. beach clothes, flip flops) I'm guessing, but don't remember for certain, that clothing with inappropriate language is one no-no. You can wear jeans (if they are not torn/ripped)and be casual. The rules are not over reaching by any means, you just need to use good judgment.
