I've never liked Willingham that much because he can be streaky. But maybe this is the year he is solid all the way through.

Speaking of waiver pickups, I grabbed Jake Peavy and kept him on the bench hoping he would turn things around. In two starts he scored 33 and 31 pts. I can't figure out why Yao dropped him. Might turn out to be a huge steal and changes my whole pitching staff needs.

and Willingham is streaky but if you had used them in his road games against LHP in the last 2 years you have a .890 OPS player. of course that's not a whole lot of at-bats. I really need Ibanez to wake up.

isn't a quality start 6 innings with less than 3 ER ? then Stauffer (who's this guy?) doesn't qualify. anyway I see what you mean. if you go to the full standings link you'll notice that the W-L record of everybody is kinda random. JL's about 25-7 I think while I'm lucky to be above .500. it should even out at least a little bit throughout the season.

it's interesting that one of your relievers got a W with 1 IP - meaningless stat? - and that Heath Bell finally blew another save while keeping his scoreless streak going. you shouldn't be all upset 'cause a few of your pitchers could've very well come up with a loss rather than a no-decision. you still scored 67 pts on pitching and the only good thing is that you burned up 4 GS tongue

I would consider 5 IP with 0 ER just as good as 6 IP with 2 ERs wink

Anyway... not really bitching about it, it just sucks. Cheap W's from relievers, and nothing from 4 starters who pitched great only to see it disappear. ohwell

I thought twice about Stauffer (11) vs Oswalt (18) but they've both been so terrific (again, despite Oswalt being an Astro -- sorry, Gina wink ) Guess it was a pitchers' duel anyway, but 1 win woulda been nice.

As for "burning" my starts, I still don't feel I am, really. (Talk to BAM about burning starts tongue ) I have 3 guys on the DL. Today's guys just happened to all pitch today (how many days did I go without a start?). Today's numbers could've been A LOT worse! ; )

I considered picking him up earlier in the year, but he's still a young pitcher who has too many bad starts mixed in with the awesome ones. He'll be a good pitcher in the future with more experience though. At least that's my opinion.

the most amazing thing is that the Rays may be the best team in the majors and they were on the wrong on side of two perfect games in less than an year. blame it on Joe Maddon:

"I'm a bad omen. That’s the third perfect game and fourth no-hitter I’ve been on the wrong side of; When Kenny Rogers threw his I was the bullpen coach. If you want to see another one, just follow me around." Rays manager Joe Maddon.

Oh, for a bullpen that won't blow saves. Three outs?! That's all you need.

cool! that's before I averaged about 20 pts per start in 5 GS this week and had a couple of -20 pts meltdowns from my top closers.

Trade Pending...

DB to trade

Andrew McCutchen (Pit - CF)
David Aardsma (Sea - RP)

BAM to trade

Zack Greinke (KC - SP)

BAM to drop

Hunter Pence (Hou - RF)

Seems to be somewhat of a risk on both sides, but, if this was 2009 or 2008, well.........

The trade is made even more scary after Greinke's -22 point outing last night. McCutchen has been one of my best outfielders this season. Too bad his one 20 point outing came against the Cubs. lol

I think this is the 1st time I got a top 4 fantasy player on waivers, at the end of May. Of course, we'll see if he continues to produce at this rate. wink

Jose Bautista.

14 HR's and 38 RBI's. Leads the majors in HR's, and is tied for 2nd in RBI's.

see it for yourself

I was happy to rent him for one day and 7 pts and then I dumped him back to the trash can where he seems to belong.

I can't feel other way than believing both he and Vernon Wells are going to hit for a .600 OPS starting now in order to finish with their usual lines.

oh fuck! I forgot the jink alert...

He's got 193 Fantasy points and plays 3 positions. I'll take the chance. Only 3 players have more points than him.

There are a few guys like Bautista, Wells, Konerko, who are hitting homeruns like it's the steroid era again. Makes me think there is soemthing players are starting to use that isn't being tested for. Man I hope not...

Yeah, I've been checking this lineup daily, but I have a hard time remembering the other game. I always get busy on the weekends and then forget before the sunday deadline. Sorry crazy

I'm so glad this is a long season. I'm not happy with my team so far. I'm happier with it than when I started, but I'm still way behind. Lots of catching up to do. Although I guess that's what I do every year.

"RF Jose Bautista hit his major-league-leading 15th home run, continuing a power surge that goes back to last September. Bautista has hit a home run in seven of his past 11 games and nine of his past 16. Since Sept. 7, 2009, Bautista has hit 25 home runs (in 73 games) -- no one in the majors has hit more home runs in that time."

...Can't believe nobody including myself, didn't take a chance on him earlier. ..Oh wait. Someone else briefly did. tongue

Bad move in hindsight, but I sat Lester (29 pts) and Sanchez (18) in their pitching matchups against Tampa and Atlanta. Lester has historically been awful against Tampa and Sanchez is just on a run that I was afraid was going to come apart.

Any recent ones for you guys lately?
