SEASCALE, England – A taxi driver went on a shooting spree across a rural area of northwestern England on Wednesday, police said, killing 12 people and wounding 25 others before turning the gun on himself. The rampage in Cumbria was the deadliest mass shooting since 1996 in Britain, where gun ownership is tightly restricted and handguns are banned. The deadly spree "has shocked the people of Cumbria and around the country to the core," Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Hyde said. Officers found Bird's body in woods near the Lake District village of Boot. Hyde said two weapons were recovered from the scene. I am hearing MSNBC breaking a story about they Dutch boy (Youran Vander Sleut)who was arrested (twice) then released during the Natalie Holloway disappearance. He is now wanted in the disappearance of a Peruvian girl.  I don't know details yet. Apparently, at this point, he's NOT arrested but was the last person to see this girl alive. TIS

Yea, I heard just after I posted. Poor girl!! I think Natalie's parents deep down always had it in their minds that it was this guy. I'm sure they are following this story very very closely. It's playing out very much like the Holloway case so far. TIS

My girlfriend and I went to a taping of Lopez Tonight last night in Burbank, and I got to see Peter Frampton. That dude's still got it at 60. He was incredible!
Overall, it was a fun time, but there was a lot of waiting, and when we finally got to the studio, they told us there were no more seats available, so we had to stand for the duration. But I can't complain too much, because it was free. George Lopez is hilarious, and the tapings are much more entertaining than what you see on TV. There is a lot that goes down during the commercials and intermissions that you don't get to see on TV. And the hype man was absolutely hilarious! Overall, my girlfriend and I had a good time, and it was nice getting out of the OC for a while and going to the city.

Yogi, I heard yesterday about the taxi cab driver shooting spree. That is awful. Do they know or have any info as to why this guy went on the shooting spree? X, I was in Burbank once a long time ago to see a Murphy Brown taping. For a half hour show it took over two hours to tape. Yet, it was fun and interesting to watch.  TIS

CNN is reporting: Former Natalee Holloway case suspect Joran van der Sloot, wanted in slaying in Peru, has been apprehended in Chile. Beth, I was just gonna post the same thing. He has been arrested for "murder" the news story said. Question, can they re-open the Holloway case also? Or since he was released can they not re-investigate/charge him? After all he is in another country and both murders occurred out of the U.S. Do different laws apply? TIS

TIS He was taken into custody in Chile and a request from Peruvian authorities to extradite him will probably be honored. However, I am a little surprised that you would ask if different laws apply.

I guess what I'm getting at is, since he was not arrested in the U.S. nor was the crime committed in the U.S., what the laws of Peru are regarding these murder charges. (i.e. can they reopen the Holloway investigation, is he given the same rights as in the U.S. and should it go to court, is there a trial jury). TIS
