yeah it's been a strange day. I think I would have pulled off the trigger on the deal with BAM once I knew I had C.C. Sabathia but who knows... I've been making trade offers to BAM for so long I didn't even know which one was on the table.

he definitely could've got much more in return for Weaver in earlier offers and I do have a one player infield but you've made that same comment before the season (and you were right, it was true - no backups) and I adjusted fairly well.

my idea is that the game turns upside down in late august and september. and I trust the good lord that your offense will cool off sometime.

The trade is a joke. A 1B that's hit 2 HR's since June, and a pitcher that hasn't won in 6 weeks, for Roy Halladay.

No backup is one thing, but you don't have any 2b or 3b period. I thought Utley was coming back soon, but he's at least a month away. You traded away 30+ HR's and 160RBI's, with absolutely nobody to replace them.

I'm not going to pretend that the my deal with BAM is absolutely even, but you also have to take into account that BAM has fewer than 10 starts left and after the trade deadline, Halladay is worthless to him...

yes but 90% of those HR and RBIs were already hit. and there are guys in the waiver wire hitting for a .950 OPS over their last 100 AB like Gordon Beckham.

I'd protest, but what's the sense. It's going to go through anyway. How can this trade be defended? BAM is getting the 23RD ranked 1B (below waiver wire 1B's) and a pitcher that he can't use. DB gets Roy Halladay. It's a fucking joke.

Trades with BAM shouldn't be allowed anyway. Besides his incompetence, he's not even playing. He's got at least 4 guys on the DL, and he doesn't even take them out of his lineup.

I have a feeling this year is going to come down to the final day with a possibility of any of the top three winning it.

I'm not sure I'll be able to hit 162 it's been a crazy season anyway. I had a bad draft and made a disaster trade and threw away 2 of the top 3 players in baseball and I'm still there so I'm fine with anything I can get.

PS: Jeter is finally wearing off but given the way the trade deadline went down, Yogi has got to be considered the master of moneyball for squeezing David Ortiz and DJ from me for Gavin Floyd.

"2 of the top 3 players in baseball" as of the time of that writting - Josh Hamilton and Jose Bautista.

Hamilton has cooled off and been sidelined and BL's magic duo Carlos Gonzales and Joey Votto (who was hanging around undrafted until near the end of our draft) have passed him and against any reasonable explanation Bautista is thetop scorer so far. I had him for one day to fill up my LF spot, he hit a 2 run HR and I "threw him back to the trash can where he belongs" as I said at the time

anyway I never saw him coming and he had a dreadful stretch; I would never have benched wonderkind Justin Upton (who should have scored double the points )and most likely neither Josh Willingham most of the season (who I personally liked as opposed to Bautista) so the most I would've done was keep him from JL.

...which wasn't absolutely necessary since I'm kicking JL's ass anyway
