I disagree - Leaf is far and away the #1 bust of all time. I wouldn't even put Russell #2 - that belongs to the overhyped, over-roided Tony Mandarich.
Mandarich in Indy was an OK/mediocre tackle, i.e. having a career somewhere in the NFL after his initial massive flop origins.
Russell so far won't even get that.
The reason Leaf is #1 is that he was an ass and treated people awfully everywhere he went - college and the pros. He had that famous meltdown on the SD reporter in which Junior Seau had to step in.
With that logic, HOFer O.J. Simpson flopped too. I'm talking about the hype and comparing/contrasting the field results, not their values as human beings. I call this the Ty Cobb Rule.
Not only that, he was taken in the same draft as first-ballot HOFer Peyton Manning. Russell was in what has turned out to be a weak 2007 NFL QB class.
Good point.
