$165M is a little steep. I may go as high as $150M. What do you mean? Parts of it used to decorate the palace of a king. Stop HORSING AROUND about the price.

Actually, the exterior shots for Woltz's estate were filmed at the old Guggenheim estate on Middleneck Road in Long Island. It's said that it was also F. Scott Fitgerald's inspiration for Jay Gatsby's estate (The Great Gatsby). -The estate of movie czar Jack Woltz was really the Harold LLoyd Estate ("Greenacres") in Beverly Hills, CA-- NOT the Guggenheim Estate on Long Island. [Interior shots, too? That may've been shot in the Guggenheim, but unconfirmed] *from this website. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/ar...in_page_id=1811http://www.ligoldcoast.com/limovies.htmlThe proof goes on endlessly that the exterior shots were the Hearst estate, and the horse head scene were the Falaise.

The Guggenheim estate IS Falaise, so I guess that's where the interiors were shot.
Funny, most books on the subject, including Harlan Lebo's, list Woltz's home as the Guggenheim Estate. At the risk of starting a debate, it is my most humble opinion that the horse head in the bed scene is the most famous scene to most people. Keeping that in mind, it is my guess, that when discussing location scenes for the Godfather, the interior shot where the horse's head scene took place, is the location given for Woltz's mansion, not the exterior scenes where Woltz is talking with Tom around the pools. Also thank you for the clarification of Falaise and Guggenheim being the same.

Okay Johnny, just scroll down to Falaise. It appears that the living room scene was shot at the Guggenheim estate. Click Here: Godfather Shooting Locations

I've always found those snooty Suffolk County homes having their own names very obnoxious.
PB that comment shows you have good horse sense. I only wish. I could have single handedly saved Hialeah through my charitable donations. Don't let the Florida pols kid you, they were making money.

It says Woltz's bedroom was the actual living room of Falaise.
I've always found those snooty Suffolk County homes having their own names very obnoxious. Who among us wouldn't be snooty if we could afford to live in a multi million dollar mansion? I am involved in an antique car club, and I find it amusing that some members apply female names to their cars. http://www.rrrclc.org/55_Crimmins_Eldo_story.htm Very cool, Johnny. If you ever cross the state over to Palm Beach, you'll find alot of those clubs.

While we are on the subject of Woltz, didn't he appear to have some mental disorder with having dual personalities. Case in point: When he first was introduced to Tom, he was calm:
TOM
Uh, I was sent by a friend of Johnny Fontane's -- His friend is my client, who'd give his
undying friendship to Mr. Woltz, if Mr. Woltz would grant us a small -- favor.
WOLTZ
Woltz is listening.
Then he gets pissed:
WOLTZ
Now listen to me, you smooth-talking son-of-a-bitch! Let me lay it on the line for you and
your boss, whoever he is. Johnny Fontane will never get that movie! I don't care how many -
- daigo guinea WOP greaseball gumbahs come out of the woodwork!
Then back to not only being calm, but being the most gracious host:
WOLTZ
Why didn't you say you worked for Corleone, Tom? I thought you were just some cheap
two-bit hustler Johnny was running in trying to bluff me.
TOM
I don't like to use his name unless it's really necessary.
WOLTZ
How's your drink, Tom?
Still Calm at dinner:
TOM
Mr. Corleone is Johnny's godfather. To the Italian people, that's a very religious, sacred,
close relationship.
WOLTZ
I respect that; just tell him he should ask me anything else. But this is one favor I can't give
him. One would think that Woltz was a "reasonable" man! But then....
WOLTZ
You don't understand. Johnny Fontane never gets that movie. That part is perfect for him;
it'll make him a big star. And I'm gonna run him out of the business, and let me tell you why.
He sort of reminds one of Capt. Phillip Francis Queeg!

You gotta remember that Woltz was a powerful mogul in Hollywood who was used to having his way. When he is seemingly calm at the point Tom is forst talking to him, note how he curtly says "Woltz is listening," when he isnt listening at all, he is looking at a clipboard and signing a piece of paper. When Hagen finishes, Woltz gibes the flack holding the clipboard a smirk, as if to say "get a load of this asshole," and then he raises his voice to Tom.
This kind of behavior probably was a great way to control all those Hollywood finocchios, so Woltz figured he could use it on the Corleones....especially the bit about how he was no bandleader. In a deleted Saga scene Tom discusses with Vito various options, including blackmailing him about the young child star he is sleeping with (note how Vito says under his breath that this is an infamnia) and Vito asks whether this guy is really strong...like a Sicilian or is just bluffing. Tom says he isnt that strong and then he sends for Luca.

Found this in my mom's People magazine:
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

I know its a technicality, but an important one. While the mansion is the one used for the exterior shots, it was not the site of the famous horse-head scene. That site was on the other side of the country.
The bedroom of Woltz’s villa, where the studio boss finds the head of his unfortunate horse, is the living room of Falaise, on Sands Point Preserve, the Guggenheim estate way out at 95 Middleneck Road on Long Island
