These people were taunting a 7 year old that is dying of Huntington's disease? What possible explanation or justification could they have for something that low?

Yet another reason why IMO we need an Evangelical revolution in this country that hasn't been seen since the time immediately following the Civil War.

Yeah, that revolution was helpful notwithstanding the Black Codes, Reconstruction Acts, the KKK, the slaughter of the Indians, and the Chinese Exclusion Act.

That's a rather narrow assessment of the movement and that time in history, wouldn't you agree? The Evangelical Revolution in post Civil War America represented the first time ever that blacks and whites in the South East and Mid West United States stood hand in hand as they came together to worship under the unity of God.

Yes, while the Black Codes excluded former slaves from entry into the political, social, legal, and economic life of the South, while the Reconstruction Acts forced military occupation on the South and disenfranchised most white males, while few trees in the South did not experience a lynching of former slaves by the KKK, while the Trail of Tears was under construction, and while potential Chinese immigrants were barred from the US because of ..uhmm??... oh yeah...race. But so many people were holding hands that ....

You certainly have Christians associating with a sordid cast of characters there. I'm not at all seeing the connection to the Chinese Exclusion Act but I'll take yur word.

Jennifer Petkov, the Trenton woman who taunted 7-year-old Kathleen Edward in a feud with the girl's grandmother, was arrested Friday afternoon after being accused of trying to run over another neighborhood resident.
Petkov, 33, was charged in 33rd District Court in Woodhaven with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of reckless driving. The first charge carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison.
Reckless driving is a 93-day misdemeanor.
Trenton police said the charges stem from an incident in the 200 block of Detroit.
News media reports say the neighbor was walking to visit Kathleen's grandmother, Rebecca Rose, who lives across from Petkov, when the incident occurred Wednesday.

Crystal Cathedral Ministries, an Orange County landmark and megachurch founded by television evangelist Robert H. Schuller, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Monday morning.
The cathedral owes about about $7.5 million to unsecured creditors. The bankruptcy filing seeks court protection from its creditors.
In a statement issued Monday, Senior Pastor Sheila Schuller Coleman said the bankruptcy filing was a necessity because a "small number of creditors chose to file lawsuits and obtained writ of attachment."

Wow, I'm surprised. I never was in the cathedral, but when I lived in Orange County, I passed it a lot of times. I know they televise services (or use to). It was (is) somewhat of a tourist stop too. When my niece and her mom were out a few years back, they went to a service there.
Now does this mean they will shut it down, or is it possible that this will be resolved?
Thanks Oli, for providing me with news in my area. Now, what's the forecast tomorrow?

At first I thought the political ads weren't really that many or that bad. However, now I can't wait til the election is over. Every other commercial is some kind of political ad.
Anyway, every now and then there is an ad that isn't too bad. Here's one that I think is actually pretty good.

Who knows SC. What can I say? This is California. They wanted Gray Davis out and jumped at the chance for Arnold who has driven us even more in the ditch. I don't mind his personality and sense of humor. He's actually kind of likable, but not a good governor. We are way overdue for a new leader. Of course anything can happen, and the race is close, but I have a feeling that Brown will win over Whitman and Boxer over Fiorina.

I agree SC. Arnie will always be "The Terminator" as far as I'm concerned. Every now and then (not often) he'd surprise me though, and say or do something that I agreed with. I think being married to a Kennedy who is from the opposite party, perhaps makes him a tad more flexible. Still by no means governor material.
During the last Presidential election the news posted a picture of the Governor's house. There was a sign supporting Obama on one side and McCain on the other.

Our government later today announces its radical new policy of cuts and savings in order to wipe many billions off the countless billions we owe....
People are braced for job losses and changes to vital public services. Tighten those belts and lets pull together say the government. I can't imagine any of our millionaire politicians pulling anywhere with the likes of me but never mind. It is what it is and thats all i have to say about that.......

Everyone remember Anita Hill, the lady who accused Justice Thomas of sexual harassment in the 90's. Thomas' wife left a voice message for her asking for her to apologize. I remember watching those hearings.

Don't we all know at least one person who has had breast cancer? Two of my co-workers are survivors and a couple relatives as well.
Ladies, remember to get your mammograms and check-ups. Kim Novak is 77, and this cancer has no age limits. Glad her prospects are good.
Hollywood veteran actress Kim Novak has been diagnosed with breast cancer, but doctors say her prospects for recovery are good, her manager said Wednesday.

Detroit — Video surveillance footage shows a 5-year-old girl's confusion as she watches her mother's boyfriend stumble around a gas station after he was shot fending off a would-be carjacker.
Police said a 36-year-old man was pumping gas into a black Cadillac Escalade shortly after 7 p.m. at a Citgo gas station on Fenkell near Schaefer when he was attacked by a man who wanted to steal the luxury truck. According to police, the carjacking victim returned fire and killed the man who tried to take his SUV.
The victim's girlfriend was inside the gas station buying a pop while her daughter was inside the SUV, according to the video...

Texas sends $269 million bill to Amazon.com for uncollected sales taxes

Texas has sent Amazon.com Inc. a $269 million bill for uncollected sales taxes on purchases made by state residents from the Seattle-based Internet superstore over a four-year period.
Now that Texas has gotten tough with the No. 1 online retailer, other states could be tempted to pile on with their own assessments as local governments face huge shortfalls, analysts said. Recent estimates put Texas' two-year budget shortfall at as much as $21 billion

Can Amazon legally tell Texas "We're gonna mess with Texas and there's nothing you can do about it?" What does the law require?

A 19 year old boy was bitten by what experts think to be a Great White Shark just north of Santa Barbara, CA. Apparently his friend pulled him out of the water, but he had already bled to death. How sad. I heard today that they have not found the shark, but after monitoring the area, "may" open that beach again.
We here of this happening every now and then but what a horrible way to go. Poor kid!!

Texas law is pretty comprehesive about the application and payment of sales tax. There is also federal law that may allow a retailer to pay a lump sum sort of in lieu of sales tax.
