This is nice news. I've always liked Burt Reynolds. Not because he's a particularly great actor, but because he's just so damn likeable. He's a real Florida guy, so the "Burn Notice" guest spot should really suit him.
Burt Reynolds is Back in Action on 'Burn Notice'
ET Online
Less than three months after undergoing quintuple bypass open-heart surgery, 74-year-old Hollywood legend Burt Reynolds is back in front of the cameras and looking fit for a guest spot on "Burn Notice," and he's sharing his trademark dry wit with ET!
"They were shocked that I'm alive and well, walking, talking, running, shooting -- all that stuff," Burt tells ET. "I'm so seasoned it's frightening."
In Burt's episode, part of the new season of "Burn Notice" premiering June 3 on USA, the former 'Smokey and the Bandit' star plays a safecracking, retired spy in the same boat as co-star Jeffrey Donovan's blacklisted Miami-based character, Michael Westen.
"He's an old spy, and Jeffrey is kind of taken with the fact that he's an old spy, but Jeffrey's also mad at me for bossing him around, so we have kind of a fun, Bickerson relationship," explains Burt, referring to the late-'40s radio show featuring a bickering married couple. "My character gets in a hornet's nest [mess] -- he has no idea what he's doing."
So how did the hit USA spy show land the Hollywood legend?
"I came to them, actually," says Burt. "I'm a big fan of the show, I'm very taken with the actors on the show and the storylines, and it has a whole new look. … I think the reason that I've been working for 50 years is I love the work, I try to come prepared to do it, and I guess I've been fooling a lot of people a long time if I'm not any good."
Watch ET for more with Burt!
