A way to trim the deficit is for the senate and the house to take a pay cut.

McCain saw that he was going to lose the election. So he listened to an advice which sounded crazy: Take Palin as a running mate. But he really needed something new to make it to the news head lines. I saw Stuart Varney (an economic journalist with Fox News) speak at a business luncheon today. Agree or disagree with his ideals, the man is an excellent speaker. When asked about the future, he said that he expects the recovery will continue, slowly but steadily. By summer 2011, he expects unemployment to be down to about 9%, providing that the basic insolvency of the state of California doesn't cause another panic. People will begin to feel better, more confident, and this will further even more economic progress. This recovery will guarantee President Obama's re-election.

I think Varney is right on. Most Fox commentators simply choose to make political hay from the current state of the economy. (Just listen to Bulls and Bears tomorrow morning). Besides, Varney's british accent makes his analysis seem so plausible

He was very interesting and quite witty. He said that Fox's ratings are up so much since Obama's been campaign and election that he wanted to quell the rumors that Fox is funding his re-election campaign.

Pull most of out troops out of Germany and Japan. Also stop using contractors to feed the military. They were charging $8.00 or something like that for a single coke in Iraq.

We can still have a strong Asian presence in Korea, and from what I am reading we need to spend more money to check China's growing Navy. Still that would be a huge savings.

Hitler also rose to power through his speaking skills, people say he had exceptional oratory skills. People have commented on Obama's oratory skills coincidence? IMHO Obama is a lot closer to Hitler than people want to let on.

When you invoke Hitler comparisons, you insult the memory of everyone killed by that maniac. Even worse, you enrage the survivors of the camps even more. You offend not only Jews, but anyone who lives their life with even the slightest bit of human decency.

Obama's oratorical skills were brilliant when he was campaigning, but since he's been governing, not so good. He is nothing like Hitler. After Hitler got elected he seized dictatorial powers for himself. Obama, on the other hand, is turning out to be a total wimp who compromises on everything.

Not that this has anything to do wth Obama, but if you or I didn't pay taxes---on millions of dollars, no less---for 17 years, we'd be posting from the federal pen in Atlanta right now. Good old Charlie Rangel is going to get "censured." Whatever the Hell that's supposed to mean.

I hear you Miggie, and I agree something has to be done. The problem with term limits for congress is that it takes a couple of years to lern the ropes, and in truth Congress is really run by a small number of people who are relatively senior. If you have term limits, then what would happen is the effective people in congress would be continully forced out of power, and this would leave a huge vacuum that would be filled by bureaucrats who have lifetime tenure and lobbyists. I am sure we can all agree that
nobody wants those two groups to have more power than they already have. One possibility I have thought about regarding all office hlders, including judges is that after a certain period, say 8 years, they are required to leave office and go to work in the real world....not as lobbyists not as government employees and not as electd officials in any capacity whatsover. This could create an atmophere in which the elected officials have more contact with reality than they do, and if after some period, say 3 years, they want to get back into office, they can run. This would give voters a chance to look at their records, and if they were deserving they would win their elections.
