The numbers on demographics won't be out until Jan-Feb 2011 but the population growth was greatest in states where the Hispanic population was greatest. But that doesn't necessarily mean it was just immigration (legal or illegal). It's also births and transfers.

But since the Census doesn't distinguish between citizens and non-citizens that has been a sore spot for some states that are losing population. A few years back one of our republican congresswomen up here started a fuss about requiring the Census only to count citizens.

It looks like Phil Spector is getting sued by the 60's female group, The Ronettes. Anyone remember them? Or Ronnie Spector (Be My Baby), the one-time wife of Phil.

Members of famed 1960s girl group The Ronettes are taking action against Spector — their former producer and manager — over $150,000 in back royalties.

According to the lawsuit, Spector and his companies have withheld royalties from the Be My Baby hitmakers even after they won an initial lawsuit in 2006.

The plaintiffs in the case include Spector’s ex-wife Ronnie Greenfield, Darlene Love and the estates of two deceased Ronettes, Estelle Bennett
and Nedra Talley Ross. They claim that Spector’s Phil Spector Records and Phillies Records have not made their required biannual royalties payments. They are also suing for $1 million in damages.

Since Obama is elected, I receive a social security statement around this time each year, now for two years. (everyone paying into the SS is supposed to receive one three months prior to their birthday) Apparently I've paid two thousands something (my employer not included) to the SS and couple of hundreds to the medicare in 2001 and 2002. I wonder how I can get it back, instead of a statement each year reminding me of this fact.

That damn SS and alien workers that only get the benefits without paying a dime into the system, blah, blah, blah...

without sounding sorry for myself i will be glad to see the New Year in and get rid of December, cos its been a hard month for us. The stress and scurry of Christmas aside we have had the effects of the horrendous weather which ripped all my guttering off,cracked my paths and finally flattened my old back fence. My wifes mother is very poorly with cancer and hasn't been given long to live, mt mother has the dreaded flu and we had to get the poor dog put down....oh and i am working New Years Eve

Apart from that everything is hunky dory

Thanks Beth. The situation with my wife and her mother is awful full stop but they had a spell of not speaking for a bit so it has been extra hard for both of them,although they have been speaking again for a while. Family feuds....no good whatsoever

I have to admit, Yogi, that sounds like my SIL. She will go to those lovely Brazilian places where they bring you unlimited servings of meat, and she'll opt for the salad bar only! Or when we went out to dinner with her and my brother in Florida, after eating only one of the unlimited King Crab Legs, declined to have any more because it was "too crabby".

These kinds of words have never passed my lips, and the sentiment has certainly never crossed my mind.

Rep. Gabrille Giffords (D- Ariz.) was shot while holding a public event outside a Tuscon grocery store, Arizona Public Media reports. At least nine others were injured.

A gunman ran up and started shooting while the third-term congresswoman was hosting a "Congress in Your Corner" event, according to Peter Michaels, news director of Arizona Public Media.

It's still not confirmed that she has died as well as 4 others including a child.
