Dolphins offered more but he'd be in the same division as Belichick and Brady, and Rex Ryan.

49ers are in an easy division and they have 22 draft picks in the next few years. Plus they were close to where all of his coaching jobs have been. San Diego St, Oakland, Stanford, San Fransisco.

I think he will do pretty well, maybe even back into the playoffs next year. 49ers desperately need a QB though.
