This is a difficult and scary time for you and we ALL understand. I know that I am not the only one praying for her and your grandfather and family during this trying time.

She isn't going to make it. The doctors say her heart is just too damaged, and there's nothing they can do.

The family is gathering at the hospital right now, where the doctor is going to take her off of life support.

And I can't be there.

I am so sorry to hear that. I know it is hard to be far away, but don't hesitate to call your family and your grandmother. You can still be close to them, and talk to them. Sometimes we just need someone that we can cry with or sigh with or just be there, even if it's on the phone. God bless!

You can be there in heart, and from what I know about you and how you are with family, I guarantee you already are there in heart. Parental bonds are amazing and I couldn't explain how but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that your grandmother KNOWS you are there.

I am so very sorry to read this news. Don't know what more I can say, except what's already been said, and the fact that you have friends here to talk to if and when you need to.

**UPDATE**

My grandfather refused to have them pull the plug until he felt they exhausted every option they had. So as of my last update, the doctors conducted a procedure called a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), where they basically insert a balloon into an artery in her arm to assist the heart in pumping the blood it needs to pump to operate correctly and efficiently.

I just got off the phone with my sister a few moments ago. She said my grandmother woke up! The doctor asked her a simple series of yes and no questions, and she was able to nod yes or no accordingly! I'm not sure how I feel about miracles...but if there were EVER a case for one, this may be it.

She isn't out of the woods yet, and the doctors aren't overly optimistic...but as of right now...SHE IS ALIVE!

Well unless there is some sort of dramatic setback for my grandmother, it looks like she's gonna be absolutely fine, with all of her mental faculties intact!

Thanks again to everyone for the prayers and well-wishes. I may not be a religious person, but my grandmother is, and I know her belief in God comforts her. Your prayers mean a lot to her, so thanks!

I'm sorry I'm not on the BB that much anymore but I wanted to tell you how happy I am of your Grandmother's progress. She has an angel watching over her. I'll keep her and you and your family in my prayers.

Though decision for your grandfather, but in the end it may look like the only correct one (despite the fact your grandfather isn't a doctor ). Really happy for your family.

Thanks for all the prayers and well-wishes concerning my grandmother. She has recovered better than anyone thought she would, and doesn't look like she's going anywhere for a very long time.

In much sadder news, my grandfather passed away yesterday. I'm sure some of you remember that a little over a year ago I mentioned that my grandfather had been diagnosed with prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. He wasn't supposed to live past Thanksgiving 2010. He lived through Thanksgiving 2011, and quietly passed away the next day, surrounded by family.

I can't even begin to express how saddened I am by his loss. He was a truly great man, and someone whom I'd like to pattern myself after. He had a tough, no-nonsense demeanor on the outside, but once you got to know him, he was a friend for life, and the best grandfather I could ever ask for. As sad as I am, I feel a sense of relief knowing that he is finally at peace, and pain free. Even still, I miss him terribly, and selfishly, I wish I could have him back.

X great news about your grandmother. You never know. Sometimes things seem to be bleak and turn out ok. She sounds like quite a fighter.

Yet, I am so sorry about your grandfather. Even if it was expected, it's still painful. Cling to all the wonderful memories and perhaps take comfort that he is no longer in pain.

The mourning process of losing someone you love is one of the worst feelings ever, but I do know it gets better. Death is a part of life, and the most important thing you can take from it is to cherish the time you have with those you love, and make sure they know how much they mean to you. I hope my grandfather knew how much I love him. I think he did.

Yes, ole Frosty gets, going with the ole pie hole. I have stated that before.

But think that it is about time that we Pray for this COUNTRY, AND WISDOM to help us in who we VOTE for in all parts of govt., also pray for those who have went through fires, this holiday season, the ones who have lost their homes and are out with kids. The kids that are missing, abused. ETC. and so on. Be thankful for the things we have, and the miltary that has made it home.

I do pray in the morning, and am going to start in the evening.

This is one thread that needs to be here all the time !!! Because sooner or later , more than likely sooner may need it.
