I was watching a youtube documentary on the Outfit and a detective whos name I forget said he beieved Accardo to be the most powerful Don in the country because the Outfit was a monolith whereas NY had 5 families. What do you guys think? Was the Outfit more powerful than any 1 of the 5 families out of NY for that reason or not?
Never really understood that whole "monlith" argument about the Outfit. Yes, it had Chicago to itself. As did some 20 or so other families, which had their own cities. This doesn't mean that any of them were more powerful than any of the New York families.
