You got it. I was 5 miles south of Frackbille. But that stretch from mile marker 106 to 140 is like another world. I have driven through blinding fog and blizzards before through that area and suddenly find myself under sunny blue skies. I'd look back in the rear view mirror to see if I had imagined it, and it would be an ominous wall of gray. It's the real twilight zone.

Well, Southerners like moi don't get a lot of the white stuff, so when it comes, it's both scary, and yet, entertaining to watch. Prelude: The local weathermen (they CALL themselves "meteorologists," but they're weathermen) broadcast that a "Winter Storm" is imminent. It can be 1/2" or 10" accumulation possible, but all of that's irrelevant: it's SNOW-MA-GEDDON, man!
Stage II: The local yokels freak! Suddenly it occurs to them that *gasp!* there's no milk! The bread's almost gone! I gotta buy a tank of gas! We could be snowed in for days! Maybe even weeks!
Stage III: Grocery stores & gas stations are overwhelmed. People cuss, shove, and honk furiously. Curiously, liquor stores have a bonanza in sales.
Stage IV: The snow arrives (and, sometimes, it DON'T...thus, our omniscient "meteorologists").
Stage V: OK, we end up with 5". Some try to go on in to work, most won't. Yours Truly braves it. No problem, for the most part. But I never worry about ME...it's my fellow Memphis morons that frighten me.
Stage VI: By the end of Day 2, after 5" of snow fell over a seven-hour window, there were over 300 wrecks (and those were just the reported ones)! The sun comes out, the snow is mostly gone. But it doesn't matter because those who called in because of snow today because of snow, will undoubtedly call in tomorrow, too...but this time, they're suddenly "sick." The real reason? (1.) Tomorrow's Friday, and (2.) Most are hungover from their liquor store stop yesterday!
Welcome to Memphis under snow these last 48 hours! (BTW: These poor saps can't drive when it's dry and sunny, either!) Hey, I love my fellow Memphians, but, as someone once said, "It's easy to love folly."

Unfortunately, it's also windy as hell (20mph with 50mph gusts expected all day)

Took me bike to the A.C. boardwalk yesterday. 42 degrees felt nice at my house. 42 degrees on the boardwalk was accompanied by 20 mph winds. Not nice. Needless to say I cut it short.

It was in the '40's all weekend. The temp is suppose to drop as the day goes on today. Raining a little right now.

It has to be at least 80 degrees here in New York. I hit two large buckets of balls earlier today and the range was packed. Spring fever, I guess .

Warm down here in South Jersey.. we sent the warm air up to youse guys. Two large buckets?? You'll be aching tomorrow....or were you putting?

It's raining, cold and miserable here, and on top of that we have no heat. The furnace is broken.

We do, so Mr. Babe lit a fire last night. While it warmed up the room a bit, it also made the smoke alarm go off every 10 minutes, thanks to the fact that it was pouring and the wood was wet.

I left a message for my furnace man and hope he'll be here first thing tomorrow.

Sunny today, but gearing up now down South for coming floods. Already in Memphis, every river is rising...and the Mississippi hasn't even crested yet. Memphis just got some wind damage and outages from the recent twisters (no fatalities), so we dodged the bullet; but flooding may be a different story. Still, I count myself far more fortunate than those poor people in Alabama. That place looks like Berlin in 1945. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who lost family or friends in the tragic twisters of these last couple of weeks.

Glad to hear you escaped major damage Snake. Yes, those poor people in Alabama. I feel for them. There is so much weather-wise going on in the world, I fear a big quake here in CA. I hope not.

God bless those people in the tornado areas. Absolutely devastating; incredible destruction. We had some T-storms in South Jersey when the front came through, but no major problems. Beautiful weather today and for the next two days.
