Just spoke w/ my mom on the phone and she's improved quite a bit, said my name, and was able to relay some information accurately. I can tell she's not getting everything just yet, but a marked improvement! Thanks, everyone! I'll be going down to the Sunshine State tomorrow (80°!)

Just talked to my mom, after my brother said she's practically back to normal! Wow, that was awesome! Gotta run, but thanks again everyone!!

Sorry, just got home tonight. Had very limited access so didn't even bother trying -- but my mom's 99.999% back after a few days! Guess it was kinda minor - but she really couldn't speak or understand much of anything the first 3 days, but then she bounced back and I left FL a week later confidently.

X, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I am late to this news and hopefully by now you have some kind of update??? I do pray she recovers fully. I know the feeling of helplessness is awful but she is in good hands and where she should be. Prayers are always a plus.  TIS

The prognosis isn't good, I'm afraid.
She was in Walmart with my grandfather when she collapsed. Apparently when she fell, she struck the back of her head on the floor and fractured her skull. Luckily there was a nurse on scene, and she administered CPR and mouth-to-mouth, but she couldn't get her to respond. The EMTS arrived around 5 minutes later and were able to get her heart beating after using a defibrilator, but that took another 5 minutes.
The doctors are concerned that if she does pull through, she may have brain damage due to the lack of blood and oxygen flowing to her brain, not to mention the head injury.
Thanks for the well-wishes, guys. I feel like a hypocrite posting in this thread, considering my beliefs. I just don't know what else to do...
