Why would the Rock want to come back to the wwe to begin with? What about a Rock/Undertaker match to see if he can beat his winning streak? Probably #1: Vince opened up his vault. #2: Maybe he's not getting the roles he wants in Hollywood, or he just misses the ring more than he enjoys acting. He probably figures the window for him to return to WWE is closing due to his age, and he can always go back to acting in the future.

Not a work. WWE wrestler Edge retires due to Neck InjuriesBut all of that paled in comparison to the shocking revelation that Edge’s career has come to an abrupt conclusion.
The 11-time world champion announced that doctors told him he had to retire after they saw the results of his recent MRI. Edge, who underwent a spinal fusion in 2003, said that he has been suffering from numbness and uncontrollable trembling in his arms and hands.
According to a story on wwe.com, years of taking bumps after surgery has resulted in a narrowing of Edge’s spinal column above and below his fused discs. If Edge continued wrestling, doctors said he would be risking paralysis or even death.
Edge had said in some newspaper interviews over the past year that he could see himself retiring in two years when his contract is up because of all of the injuries he has suffered.
Edge, 37, has had a spectacular 13-year career in WWE and has won more championships than anyone in company history. It’s sad that he won’t be wrestling anymore, but it would be even sadder if he ended up in a wheelchair – or worse – by continuing to get in the ring.
So if saying goodbye to Edge means that Adam Copeland can have better health-related quality of life, than I’m all for it.
Source: Baltimore Sun So long Mr. Copeland, you were one of the best heels in the Pro Wrestling industry for the last decade or so, and definately one of the best all-around workers in the business. Thanks for all the bumps and promos (and live sex celebrations).

BTW, was anyone else here peeved that Vince McMahon couldn't somehow convince the Rock to face John Cena at THIS YEAR'S WrestleMania, rather than next year's? Nobody cared about Cena/Miz @ WM27, it was all about the Rock and Cena. What, did Rocky need more time to prepare for a match-up with Cena? Cena is one of the most formulaic wrestlers in history; it wouldn't warrant much prep time to have a decent match with him. I can't imagine it was money, as I'm sure Rocky had a huge pay day just for hosting the show. To me, Rocky's return THIS year proved to be a huge waste, despite how freakin' awesome it was to see him again. Oh well, here's to WM28.

Couldn't have said it better, mate. I was as shocked as anyone at Edge's sudden departure, but at least he got to leave the company on top. It's a damn good thing the doctors discovered the problem when they did. Now he won't have to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
So long to one of the greatest workers this company has ever seen. Thanks for the memories, Edge. Not just all that, but he also got to leave the ring with his dignity intact, and with the respect of everybody. Which can't be said for Edge's former coworkers Matt & Jeff Hardy. Talk about two guys who pissed away their legacies and have become laughing stocks of the industry. (Less said about Jeff's public meltdown, the better.) ~Matt after the Edge retirement making a quip that Jeff might retire himself too from a neck injury - Good taste fellas, haha! Fucking douchebag. The good news is that good ol' Captain Charisma, Christian, may have a chance as the top man on SmackDown now. The bad news is that the WWE has diminished the prestige of both World titles so much that it really wouldn't mean much anyway.
The SD main event was derth even before Edge's retirement. Del Rio is awesome, on his way to champion but management didn't believe he was ready yet at Wrestlemania. And as much as I love Christian and I am rooting for him to win the belt at Extreme Rulez PPV, Vince at best thinks of him as an upper mid-card reliable veteran, a stopgap in the main event when called for. (Think Kane.) Well he's called for to take over. I assume he wins, has a short transistional reign, then drops it to Del Rio. ~Of course the WWE Draft throws all that into limbo. I'm certain Daniel Bryan (among others) are getting shipped off to friday nights to help shore up that weak roster.

I'm a huge fan of Del Rio, and would have loved seeing him go over at WM (Edge's forced retirement notwithstanding). I totally dug Kane as WHC. His programs with Edge and Undertaker were among the only reasons I tuned in on Friday nights. Kane is an incredibly smart and hard worker, and the guy can cut promos like nobody's business. It was a shame he kind of fell off the radar after his program with Edge ended. Daniel Bryan is a great in-ring technician, but as we all know, Vince is no longer interested in pushing someone based solely on their in-ring skills. With the WWE leaning further and further towards the "Entertainment" and further away from the "Wrestling", someone like Daniel Bryant doesn't stand much of a chance. Not just all that, but he also got to leave the ring with his dignity intact, and with the respect of everybody. Which can't be said for Edge's former coworkers Matt & Jeff Hardy. Talk about two guys who pissed away their legacies and have become laughing stocks of the industry. (Less said about Jeff's public meltdown, the better.) Everything that has went down with the Hardy Boyz is truly sad. The Hardys are definitely one of the top 10 tag teams of all time, and you're right, they've pissed away their legacies, Jeff Hardy especially.

Apparently Vince McMahon LOVES the Michael Cole heel character. In reality, he sucks at playing a heel. He goes from being a complete and total asshole to calling matches as a regular commentator, openly commenting back and forth between Josh and King. It's like he has a switch that he can flip at any moment. They should just kill the character off already, relegate Cole to SmackDown, and bring back good ol' JR full time to team up with King on RAW. I couldn't agree with you more on these points. Cole SUCKS. Kill this storyline already and bring back JR please!

The WWE dedicated last night's OVER THE LIMIT PPV to "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Apparently they've put together a nice little video package for tonight's RAW, as well. Hopefully it will be a fitting tribute to one of the all time greats.
Speaking of last night's PPV, it was pretty sweet seeing Bret Hart make a guest appearance, locking Michael Cole in the Sharpshooter while King shoved his toes down his throat.
But last night's Sharpshooter demonstrated another thing about Michael Cole that sucks: he can't sell. When Hitman locked in the Sharpshooter, rather than tap like ANYBODY ELSE WOULD HAVE DONE, he just squirms around and screams like a little bitch.
Vince McMahon is crazy if he thinks Michael Cole is a great heel. In fact, McMahon's creative decisions over the past 5+ years have been shitty, for the most part. I think it's time he just hands the reigns over to Shane, Steph, and HHH, and take a less active role in the company.
