Name your pick for worst boss from each of the 5 Families.
My votes go to:
Bonnano - Carmine Galante (defacto) Columbo - Joe Columbo Gambino - John Gotti Genovese - Joe Masseria (have they had a bad boss?) Lucchese - tie between Amuso and Tramunti.
Best way to catch the smart ones? Get an idiot working for them.

Bonanno - Joe Massino (this shouldn't even be up for debate) Colombo - Carmine Persico Lucchese - Vic Amuso Gambino - John Gotti Genovese - Vito Genovese (while a brilliant man, he was responsible for Apalachin and Joe Valachi)

Bonanno - Phillip Rastelli (most of his reign in the can, the three capos murder, donnie brasco, galante being a renegade) Colombo - Carmine Persico Lucchese - Vic Amuso Gambino - Peter Gotti (crazy stupid) Genovese - Vito Genovese (least best out of all the bosses they had)
Tommy Shots: They want me running the family, don't they know I have a young wife? Sal Vitale: (laughs) Tommy, jump in, the water's fine.
why does everyone keep putting colombo on their list for worst colomobo boss? id like to hear some people's reasoning
I picked Columbo because he was so public with the IACRL, that resulted in his assassination. He was greedy (not unlike other bosses) and had plenty of discontented soldiers during his reign.
Lastly, his politicizing of the Godfather movie to insure the word Mafia was not used was stupid. He fooled no one with the whole charade.
Lesson #1 for any mafioso - stay in the shadows. Joe forgot that.

Even though Massino was a scumbag who ratted he actually helped bring the Bonnano family back to a top power position after they got kicked out of th ecommission because the the donnie brasco situation

I agree with that, but the very last thing a boss should be is a rat. After you turn rat, it doesn't even matter what you did in the past. He automatically nullified everything he worked for. I find it interesting some people put Rusty Rastelli's name in there, but then again, he's the guy who brought Massino in.

Bonnano - Massino (agree - shouldn't be up for debate at all) Colombo - Persico Lucchese - Amuso, I guess..but we should all be probably really saying Casso technically Gambino - Gotti Genovese - Genovese himself. Out of all the bosses they've had he's gotten them in the most trouble and done the most damage, which is crazy to think but its probably true
Any boss, Persico, Rastelli, post-Gravano Gotti , who tries to run shit from the can is a horrible boss IMO. Besides Gigante but he had a ruling panel of top guys that would each make great bosses in their own right. and it seemed like he was in control in the can for the sake of the family instead of trying to hold onto power/money himself . Corallo - now that was a class act , officially stepping down when he went away. my opinion

Ya i thought you meant the worst boss as in their incompetence. Like before gotti took over the gambinos were the top family but when he killed Castellano he brought the family down a couple notches. Massino caused a lot of trouble by ratting but he still made the Bonanno's a top power again considering what they went through with Donnie brasco. As much as i hate the guy not too many guys can say that they re-energized a family that was thrown off the commission

Gotti was worse than massino. I mean how stupid can you be to have all your captains pay tribute to you outside in the view of the fbi lol. Also admitting to 3 murders on tape didn't help much. I mean Sammy Gravano was really the one who brought in money for the Gambinos gotti just stood there like a jerkoff lol. Also i'm surprised how many people keep saying Massino. Sure he's one of them because of what he did a few years ago, But he brought the Bonannnos from being a joke to respectful again especially at a time when the FBI was gaining strength

You're everywhere . Casey Anthony has nothing to do with the five families, but she does remind me of John Gotti a little bit. They're both very good looking people and they both beat the rap. You can't deny that. It's no wonder some people are already calling her "The Teflon Queen".

She should do the Don King thing. Go on long rants about how great America is and praise the judicial system in every single interview. All I want is to see Nancy Grace's head explode on live television. You know, like in Scanners.

another one up for debate is Joe Bonanno. I can't decide if he was the Bonanno's worst boss, or one of the greatest bosses in the history of LCN.
greatest argument - became boss at a very young age, I think he held sitting boss title for the longest out of anyone in NYC ever, defacto head of the commission when it was stacked with legends, not greedy and had a lot of guys very loyal to him, locking down Montreal
worst argument - naming his son consigliere, making his son in general, pissing off everyone with his book and giving Guliani fuel for the commission case, plotting to kill Lucchese et.al. and causing a huge rift in just about every family
thoughts?

also Casey Anthony being good looking is highly debatable. She was riddled with back acne and sores when they photographed her during jail intake. her freakishly big eyes are sunken into her head like a meth user and her stringy, greasy hair is disgusting. she looks like typical north florida trailer trash - no disrespect to any of the florida posters on here!

While he was boss, he was extremely good and was well liked by the other bosses. Even Lucchese spoke well of him in the beginning. It's also important to note that no other NY boss had a longer run than Joe Bonanno and there is a very good reason for that. Unlike many of the other bosses, he wasn't driven by power and greed. He was very much into the old way of thinking. Loyalty, family and honor was everything you needed to know about Joe Bonanno. The amazing thing is the family didn't have a rat until Frank Coppa in 2002, the same year Bonanno died. Of course he was no longer in the picture at that point, but the family was built by Joe Bonanno and carries his name to this day. No, he wasn't a perfect boss and definitely made his share of mistakes. The worst thing he did as boss was appoint his son as consigliere, but the irony is it was probably the best thing he ever did for himself. That and pissing off Carlo Gambino. If that hadn't happened, Joe Bonanno would've gone down in the commission case with Fat Tony and the rest. Maybe even sooner. Instead, the man outlived everybody. He died a free man and a wealthy man at the incredible age of ninety seven.

Almost every woman looks a little fucked up without makeup. Even Phoenix Marie, my little pornstar homegirl. Casey has everything a woman should have in her figure. And as we all can see by the pictures you posted, she also knows how to strike a pose.

That's mere speculation. Bonanno had a massive heart attack in the late 1960s, so it would be almost fantastic that he would still be boss in the 1980s.
He started fucking things up when he brought his son into his family. But that he was made a "boss" at the age of 26 is 'extraordinary' and can only be due to his capabilities.
I'm 26 myself and I don't see myself running a family. But then again, in those days people learned to take care of themselves at a much earlier age and became man at a much earlier age.
Btw, I don't consider his autobiography a fuckup. He was out of the life for a long time and had nothing to do anymore with those people in New York. And besides, those people in New York were responsible for bringing him down as boss in the first place.
And I'm convinced the authorities would have hit the mob hard anyway. The wheels were already in motion for years. It was John Gotti who brought the mob down, not some elderly and retired Joe Bonanno.

And im liking the discussion about Joe Bonnano - he definitely seemed like a "bosses boss" - and kind of a controversial guy. Massino or maybe Galante would take the cake for Bonnano's 'worst boss' title. And realistically his book wasn't uncovering anything new at the time, people knew what the mob was about and how the structure worked, etc... but how self serving was that book? you read that and you're almost surprised he doesn't talk about him and his son finding a cure for cancer. would a "true don" write something like that??? thats what I think is debateable about him
