It's interesting to note the lack of a heavy Lucchese presence in Florida.

Interesting. I live in Tampa and sometimes wonder if there's still an Italian presence. There are tons of strip clubs around here and I figure someone has to be running those rackets. Are they left over from the Trafficante days?
If you guys ever come down here, you should take a walk around Ybor City and eat at Columbia. It was Trafficante's favorite place to eat. SKINNY, you should take one of my mob walking tours of Ybor. I think you'd enjoy it. Next on is March 24th. www.cigarcitymagazine.com/events

That was a different article,I just pasted this insert from the article, "Once you get down to South Florida, you can move from family to family," Deitche explained. "It's not like New York. The market is wide open down there."
I find that kinda hard to believe, depending what tier you are on. If your running rackets and change alliances whose the money gonna get kicked up too? Any aficionados have an answer and/or suggestion to my question. Thanks - The Original Dicknose
I stand by my quote there. You had/have a very fluid structure between families in S Florida. Look at Operation Cherokee from the late 80's. You had Gambino, Luchesse, Buffalo, and Bufalino guys working together. In The 2000 Raffa case, you had Gambino and Bonnano associates working with the Trafficantes. If you look back, the situation was the same going back to the 50s and 60s.

Interesting about the Florida activity.
It's featured in the movie and book Donnie Brasco.
One of the things the Bonannos wanted to do was import NYC water to Tampa to make pizza. There's a pizzeria in downtown Tampa that markets itself as using NYC water to make better pizza. I can't help but think those owners were inspired by Donnie Brasco. Eddie and Sam's Pizza. They opened in 98, so they could have gotten the idea from Sonny Black!

ppl were made in the 2000s into the trafficante family?!! and i didnt know there was this much mob influence in florida!! all these diff families out there! I'm surprised by that. Is that confirmed? I thought the last of the Trafficante's were either dead or extremely old and Gambinos run the Tampa rackets.
