We have heard a lot about famous Social clubs down the years, the Ravenite, Chin's old club, the wimpy boys club etc etc, what about current hang outs across the country? Are social clubs still in use? Obviously its dangerous to use because of bugs so are there any we know about? I had heard somewhere the Gambino's used a club called the Hawaiian Moonlighters club In the 90s after Gotti any truth? Also what about the Sopranos depiction restaurants, bars and seedy clubs?

I think social clubs how decreased since the 90's. I'm sure they use some establishments like restaurants but I cant think of any social clubs. When I was younger there was one club that was used by I think some people in the gambinos near my area but now it sa tanning salon lol

All the boys are hanging out in jail these days, they don't need their clubs any more!

For the most part the social club scene is kinda dead in South Philly. Those places are to easy to bug and be watched by the feds. Maybe for the lower level and under the radar ones but I think the days of seeing made members hanging out in one spot are over.

Most in part IMO had to do with Ligambis approach to staying low key since he took over over a decade ago. The Merlino faction back in the day was out and about all over clubs on Delaware ave and all congregated along Merlinos cafe on Passyunk ave. Ligambi must have wanted to stay away from all that lime light attraction as the only times you ever seen him out with any of them was at Memories in Margate (shore resort in NJ near Atlantic City for those out of towners) or a rare Christmas party or wedding.

Another reason is because many of the guys in the Ligambi crew were all scraps or just released guys from prison after Merlino and crew went away. They arent all guys that came up together like the Merlino crew did or even Scarfos crew previously.

There are a few social clubs around South Philly that have people wondering but nobody really of note frequents them. Most of them could be but who knows. I know most of the kids who got jammed up in that Borgata thing had a few spots but that was also because they were all guys that grew around each other.

Carroll Gardens: 464 Court St Van Westerhout Cittadini Molesi Social Club

Walk by this place and it will be very apparent that these clubs still exist.

No one is saying they don't exist, Ovation. But you have to admit, there are FAR fewer of them than years ago.

I swear the 2nd half of this one tile store in the East Village on I believe E.11th b/w 1st and Ave A. is used as a social club. I've seen people go in and out - windows completely blacked out but a functioning A/C above the door. I also read in that real deal social club thread (which is prob like 5 yrs old) that its suspected of being a club. I'm pretty sure something's going on in there besides them selling tile out of the other half of the shop.

That's Albert Gallo's club.

In the boston area there are a ton of these types of clubs still around. But they are no longer used as a place to conduct business. They are just a place to hang out, play cards and kill some time. Wiseguys are way to smart to talk in a place like this
