Anyone watch any of the straw poll coverage from Iowa? I mean the vote itself is pretty insignificant (in the grand scheme of things, no? It's more of the ceremony?

Anyway, you guys see some of the food? Deep fried twinkies, and did I hear deep fried butter on a stick?? How do you deep fry butter? LOL

Take butter, whip it until it is light and fluffy, freeze it, then surround it with dough. The butter-laden dough balls are then dropped into the deep fryer.

I wouldn't be surprised they had deep fried oreos at the Iowa Fair. I'm telling you, everything was deep fried (and on a stick). Not that I don't eat junk food cause I do, but I felt my arteries clogging just hearing some of the food there.

Isn't Perry the one who wanted Texas to secede from the union? I only just now am hearing portions of his speeches. Is it just me or does he sound very similar to W (perhaps with a little more intelligence?) Or do all Texans talk the same?

What's scary is that a Romney/Perry ticket could prove formidable, Tis. Romney if far too centrist for the loony tunes on the far, far right. But if Perry ends up on the same ticket, it could assuage some of them into voting that way.

I am hearing that Palin plans to support Perry. That along with her traveling clown show traveling to Iowa, makes me wonder if she wants a VP ticket with Perry. I know, I know.

But it's something she need do nothing to prepare for right? All she need do is accept. She does have a following and isn't it something that the "quitta from Wasilla" might do? Tell me I am delusional please.

As a liberal Democrat you should HOPE that Palin ends up on the ticket. Even as a VP candidate, she'll make the Republicans uneclectable

Bachmann or Palin on any ticket will create problems for Republicans.

The moast dangerous ticket for Obama IMHO is Perry-Christie.

Problem with Perry is that he falls too far right on the political spectrum, while Romney could actually win many of the moderate voters. This could bode well for Obama who's more likely to win those middle of the road votes than is Perry.

The President may have been unlucky economically, but having far-Right Perry as a candidate may be exactly the scenario he needs to hang on the oval office.

Agreed Nitti, but if Perry keeps religion out of it and focuses on jobs and then puts Christie on the ticket, he could pull off enough voters inthe swing states like Penn, Ohio etc
Not to mention New Jersey

Christie dug his own grave recently by losing his temper several times on air. Big mistake.

As for Palin, I heard her "docu-advertorial" failed BIG TIME. Perhaps she's not as popular as she thinks.

And, yesterday I heard something about him not signing a bill regarding rape kits and charging the victim?? What's up with that??

TIS, when evidence in a rape case is collected in a hospital, the bill for such service is supposed to be sent to the appropriate government agency. There are times, however, when the bill is mistakenly sent to the victim. This law, which passed both houses of NJ months ago, has been sitting on Christie's desk. He has not commented on why he hasn't signed it yet, saying only that it's "under review".

August 16 actually marks the 34th anniversary of Presley's death.

On another note, Rep Ryan is gonna charge $15 to ask a face to face question at town hall meetings. Can you imagine? I heard them mention another representative that's going to do the same, but can't recall the name.
