You would dealing with common street gangs would be beneath the so-called upper echelon organized crime groups such as La Cosa Nostra. Or has LCN become so weakened that they are forced to deal with groups they never would have in the past?
The mob has always worked with other groups if it's profitable, including street gangs. The top mob guys don't but, on occasion, soldiers and associates do. For example, with the Luccheses and the Bloods, acting bosses like Joseph DiNapoli and Matthew Madonna, as well as captain Ralph Perna, weren't dealing with the Bloods. But soldier Joe Perna was.
