And, a big condo building, just across from the boardwalk, was abandoned before it was finished. Only the Stone Pony was open at that time.
It's still there -- and still the way it looked then. Depressing.
On one of my runs, I saw a guy hosing down the sidewalk in front of that condo. I stopped and asked him if the building was occupied. No, he said, but there was an operating gay bar inside (I didn't visit it).
